In this Video I show you, how I make my first ever framelock folding knife, using no mill but only my cheap drill press. I am very pleased with the accuracy, the blade is nicely centered and the action is smooth as butter. The stainless steel bearings make the blade fall under its own weight. I hope, you enjoy watching.

I feel you man, I became a machinist so I can learn to do things like this, almost 6 years in, I got a Bridgeport mill as a gift and I still don’t even have a garage to set it up. But be patient man, it’s about the little steps. I had no skills with my hands other than turning a screw 5 years ago and now I make parts for airplanes. I’ve come a long way yet I still feel far from my goal. But you’re off to a great start tho, watching these videos are actually extremely helpful.

I don't have a belt sander and I'm thinking of making a folding pocket knife. I made a damascus kiritsuke knife, but it was days of hard work, experimentation, failures. I just don't have money for all the big machines. I just bought a few small ones like dremel, etc...
@rvdKnives
@rvdKnives 9 ай бұрын
Thats a good start. I also didnt have the money for all the machines. I bought a Drillpress for 60 $ and all the other machines I built myself. You can make a good knife with not more than filing by hand. I made all my first knifes this way. It takes a lot of time but you can achieve the same results

Nice to see someone doing stuff like that without a CNC and milling machines and a whole metalworking shop! Where do you get your titanium from? Basicly with the pull back of a sliding button; two slingshot posts flick out from either side. And two slots in posts for quick setup of bands. I dont know the first place to begin. Do you have any ideas on the sping release and button system? Ballberring release or double friction spring or what? Prezzies for next christmas. Cheers nathan
