If you've got an ecxess of fruit this is a great way to preserve your produce by making a traditional fruit leather/making a traditional apple leather to preserve fruit in a traditional way. This is a really simple fruit leather recipe uing very low tech methods that anyone can do.
If you want to try preserving apples or preserving fruit this is a brilliant technique. Fruit preseve recipes are best when they come from a long family history.

My wife has made fruit leather for several years using a mixture of fruits from my garden and allotment and although it is not to my taste, she and my grandchildren love it. Good to see these old skills still being used.

Monty, you are such a wonderful source of information. How fantastic to see a tradition kept going, it looks delicious I can only imagine what it tastes like. I used to give my daughter pure fruit wraps as a child unfortunately they are now loaded with rubbish. You could be onto a big side line business there as we all look for better ways to eat and preserve. Thanks for this.

Mix the pulp of tangy fruit in addition to pulp of other fruits and prepare mixed fruit leather. If you are recuperating or your feels insipid add tiny thin strings of leather to your vegetable, fruit salad or stir fry with vegetables. Yum. Kids and adults will have a swipe craving for more. Enjoy cooking 😋.

This is an amazing and simple recipe! I had no idea that we could preserve apples this way. It must taste delicious. I will definitely use this recipe in future especially if it works for other fruits as well. Kids like chewy and sweet stuff and we can give these instead of chocolate or candies. Thank you so much for sharing this very useful idea!

It works well wit most fruit, some of the more watery ones may need reducing down a little more so the leather dries easier. the kids love it too

🍏 Ohhhh, that’s a new one on me! Wasn’t sure what you meant by 'leather' until the very end of the video when it all made sense. Do you worry about flies and insects while it’s outside drying in the sun?
@MyFamilyGarden
@MyFamilyGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Flies can be a bit of a nuisance but we've not had a massive problem with them, alternatively you can dry it on a low heat in the oven

I have a load of apples spare this year so I might give this a go..Just one quick question..What makes it set? Is it the mollasses, and do I need to add the spices or can I just use apples? Crack on dude :)
@MyFamilyGarden

The loss of water makes it set, you don't need to add the spices a pinch of salt will aid in the preservation
