Some things I wanna clear up, please read this before commenting I regret my statements when I said Sanji was “obviously straight.” What I shouldve said I was “obviously not gay,” because as I’ve mentioned, realistically he could be bi. It’s incredibly unlikely and there’s little to no proof of it, but it could be true. So I misspoke that was my bad. But again I still find it odd that people are so adamant about wanting to make Sanji not straight as if it’s a bad thing, bc you know damn well if Sanji acted like a simp towards men and someone shipped him with a woman, so many people would say “that’s erasure.” Please watch my entire video before you comment. Also, don’t tell me “oh Sanji is like this for a reason watch whole cake” I read whole cake simply for this reason, and while I still do feel incredibly bad for Sanji, what he’s doing majority of the time still isn’t respecting women.

@@imgalxe Look, personally, I don’t care if Sanji is straight, gay or bi. Either way, I just prefer other interpretations, regardless of sexuality. Other writers tend to give more depth that has only been suggested by the creator, which is why I tend to enjoy fanworks of Sanji a lot more. If I can add one more thing, a lot of creators I follow tend to headcanon Sanji as bi since it spoke a bit to their journey and performative heteronormative performances. Not saying you are wrong, but add a little bit of perspective y’know!

“Crack ship” followed by “Shanks and Mihawk” is so funny, because this is probably the most popular Shanks ship behind Shanks and Buggy, no WAY is this a crack ship 😭 Enjoyable video though! I also don’t go into media looking to ship things, but end up shipping lots anyway lmao. Thanks though for talking about Luffy and Law, Luffy and Boa, I myself am very surprised at the number of people that ship these romantically and it just really weirds me out. For ships like Zoro and Sanji and Sanji and Nami, I think the primary reason behind these is “I like the IDEA of them more then what they are”, and I admit, I do fall into that hole of thinking about what if scenarios with ships like those sometimes. Not because I think they’d work in canon, but just for fun, you know? I know they won’t ever work in canon because that’s just not how their characters work and that’s ok, it’s just fun to imagine lmao. Differentiating what ifs from ACTUAL canon is important otherwise so many defining character moments will be rose-tinted. I can’t speak for every shipper, but that’s how I go about it

FROBIN FOR THE WIN. If you look for a pattern in CANNON couples Oda have created (i.e. Scarlett x Kyros, Russian x Senior Pink, Oden x Toki) you see that he likes a certain type of couple that Robin and Franky fit in. Even if it doesn't happen in the Anime, OPLA can give us something like Ussop and Kaya!

I just don't like Boa or Robin with Luffy because they met him when he was 17, a teenager, and they were in their late 20s' to 30s'. They are adults and Luffy was very much a kid when he met them. I see shipping as practice writing wise. I use it more to explore ideas and techniques I pick up. Do I believe in them? No. The only one I say a lot is Naruto x Sasuke since it was suppose to be a real ship before it got changed and love to bring it up just to piss off my brother. I do hate anyone who pushes it to the extreme. Like don't shove it down someone's throat or push anything that isn't even close to true. I honestly think shipping has changed a lot. Like when I was first getting into it, it was more like a small book club. Intimate and not really meant to be seen by anyone associated with the subject. Even with youtubers. There was like this hidden rule not to tell YT about the fanfics even if they knew. If they found it, deleted. Embarassing. Now it's more "oh god yes they are together. No exceptions" and you cant argue. They are open about it, which is not bad but now that it is so broad it feels like it became a whole other community. Not as much artistic love, not as much writing or creativeness in general. I just feel like its very surface level. It's just very different from what I see shipping as compared to hoe it is now.

Shounen ai is like really really mild bl where at most you'll get kisses and tense scenes compared to bl or yaoi. That kiss scene from the beginning is a very common technique used in old romance anime or scenes. "Accidental kiss" was not very common between 2 men.

I honestly dont believe Boa loves Luffy in a romantic sence. She's incredibly traumatized by her past and lives on island accupied exlusively by women, so she doesn't really have good reference for 'good man'. The only other male figure in her life is significantly older than her and is basicaly like a father to her, so of course she wouldn't fall in love with him. Her crush wasn't immiet and only started after Luffy shown genuen care for her subjects and her own secret. I think it's kind of telling how Boa thinks about romance, that she takes a single hug or thnaks from Luffy as him asking her to get married. Also, her way of showing Luffy her love is her cooking for him personaly and i found that sweet. I just really like them as friends. (And off subject, i really love headcano Luffy being ace 🖤🤍💜)

Honestly I’m not surprised that LuNa wasn’t mentioned here because for some odd reason people from the west don’t like it (at least it’s way less inappropriate than Luhan.) and I could go on a tangent why I like the ship but I will put it in simpler words: I like the dynamic between Luffy & Nami, but I also like the nice moments between them, I also like the fact that they both are in similar age to & the fact that it probably wouldn’t change the dynamic of the crew (possibly), but yeah those are some of the reasons why I like LuNa without including spoilers so your welcome and have a good day/ and or night wherever you are and make to always touch grass.

I think the main thing really is that it adds nothing to either character and if anything makes them less interesting. I'll put aside my feelings on Luffy and romance (TLDR, romance is part of the whole ordinary life thing that is expected of people, but Luffy is meant to embody an unconventional life that goes against what's ordinary), it adds pretty much nothing to Luffy and Nami's journeys for them to date each other. They have a strong bond, absolutely, but it doesn't feel like it's something that's more personal and intimate than the rest of the crew. It doesn't feel like the natural evolution of their relationship. (And also it just kinda feels like main guy x main girl which is especially hilarious for this ship since Nami's relevance heavily decreases post timeskip)

I would like to point out that any ship with Luffy is either problematic and/or crack-y. And not because Luffy is the king of aroace, any age gap or the other person in the equation… No, it’s simply because of Luffy himself. Mister “I refuse your refusal”, mister I-don’t-compromise and we’re-doing-this-weather-you-want-to-or-not. If Luffy left the confines of the fictional world or lost his emotional intelligence he might genuinely be one of the most terrifying people imaginable! And I say that as someone who LOVES Luffy, I’m just not blind to his faults. I also ship him with a lot of people, just not necessarily sexually or romantically. Luffy embodies freedom, it’s an awesome trait, just not one conducive for your average relationship. Luffy would not stop and ask a SO for input on decisions, even if that’s the right thing to do. So no, I can’t seriously ship him with anyone and when I do ship him it’s usually at least a little bit cracky… and only with people I think would “match his freak” or however the expression goes, can stand up to him, but ultimately can fold and go with the flow when Luffy eventually bowls them over and gets them to tag along/participate in whatever it is that he wishes to do. My biggest no-no ships with Luffy is Boa and Barto, they simp WAY too much over Luffy and would let him walk all over themselves and I can’t see it as anything but toxic af, and it has nothing to do with age or gender, just the personality of the people involved. And while I might side-eye someone with a large age-gap irl (like 10>) I don’t really mind it in a fictional form, but if someone wanted to ship Luffy and Silvers Reighlee (sp?) I would probably be horrified by the concept happening in the real world, but two fictional characters in a fictional world? My response would be something along the lines of “not my cup of tea, but you do you bo” Like I can’t stand LawxBepo, but I don’t go out of my way to trow hate on the people that do ship them, I just keep scrolling while internally curling up in a ball and crying like the grown-ass woman I am😅

You can’t have Law, he’s mine. In seriousness if people were more open about stuff being crack ships like Sanji x Zoro, then they would be more tolerable. Issue is people act like their stuff is canon when it’s far from. Also I hate Law x Robin. Partially because I love Frobin, but also because they don’t actually have that many moments. The anime added stuff that doesn’t exist in the manga. With Law, Luffy, and Kid I see them entirely as a friendship/rivalry. Especially when Kid is around. Law becomes a giant child. I feel like Law desires that childish friendship that he didn’t get to have as a child.

Canon) Past Yamato X Ace (I like the idea they had something) I like Sanji X Zoro (bc it’s funny) and I also like Perona X Zoro and Pudding X Sanji but honestly I wouldn’t care if these ships never happened or not I just really like the story. I think I just got the idea that Sanji was extremely closeted bi because when he was in the Okama island he was like embracing it? Until he found out about Ace’s death? Idk what that was about but I don’t believe someone can “force” you to be gay or trans I think that person is born with it but may repress it. Idk tho that was my interpretation.

Honestly, One Piece is the only anime that I can ship no one, I would like to know why but I don't think any character matches the other in a romantic relationship. Of course, when I started venturing into the world of ships I shipped some, like: Luffy x Nami Zoro x Robin Law x Nami Law x Robin Zoro x Perona Luffy x Hancock Robin x Jimbe (Jinbe? Jinbei? I never know how to spell the name of this adorable chubby shark) Then when I found out that LGBT people exist I started shipping a few more: Law x Luffy (don't judge me, I was dumb) Law x Kid Nami x Robin (I don't know, I kind of still like it....but I know it will never happen) Nami x Vivi Of course, I never thought that any of these ships would be canon (honestly I prefer that most of my ships don't become canon, otherwise I completely lose interest). I like that Oda doesn't know how and doesn't even try to write romance and that's fine with me, because I don't care if a ship is canon or not. But it's interesting that there's a romance here and there: Sanji x Pudding. I just think it's a shame that Sanji is still a pervert for women even though he found a woman who likes him Ace x Yamato. It's very implicit, and I really think they were a couple. I just think it's a shame that most people liked it because Yamato has a female body (and Oda can't draw any other type of body for women), and the fandom practically ignored the fact that Yamato wants to be treated like a man. Usopp x the Rich Girl Who Likes to Hear Stories I Forgot the Name (geez, what a long name). It's going to happen and you can't avoid the inevitable, the anime will probably end with Usopp telling his children the entire manga. Luffy x Adventure. Jokes aside, I think there's a 50% chance of him staying single and a 50% chance of him, at the end of One Piece, having an unnamed child with an unnamed woman just because, I hope it's the first one.

I also like the fact that there isn't serious romance between main and second characters. IT is comfortable to watch. Romance work only for 3th characters like Sai and Baby 5.

I'm curious why One Piece fans are hostile to Luffy x Robin as a ship? - Because Robin hates Luffy Gear 5 and he is a God and she is a Demon? (in the sense that she feels silent hostility and contempt for him) - Is the honest reason that Oda simply doesn't want romances in the crew (SH x SH other ships without exception) - Is it just that Robin doesn't like chewing gum, and Luffy's fruit is Gum, and she would be afraid that he could choke her throat in a potential sexual intercourse? What do you think?

@@imgalxe Actually Luffy 19 and Robin 30, but for Robin, age gap isn't be problematic necessarily, in condition that both sides are over 18 and he would tell what mean Will of D unexpectely to Robin and she will forget about Torao, she will know that Luffy's D is bigger and better than Law's D... also she have better two meats than Hancock (probably) end.
