Really like the slight satin look. Reminds me of the blue metal enameled camping dishes. The pink is glorious. Than you for sharing.

Gosh, it must be so satisfying to be able to create your own glaze and special effects.

Wow, this is great. I am located in the philippines and I am always fascinated by your videos and gratefully surprised that you actually share your knowledge and expertise. I am beginner and would like to try the speckles myself. It will be very much appreciated if you can share the recipe.

This was great! I've been experimenting with speckles for months, with no success. It never occurred to me to bisque fire the crumbled glaze. Such a good idea. I am absolutely going to do this. Thank you!

Yeah, it was a revelation for me too when I realised it could be done this way!

Could you please tell more about bisque firing details in this case: how long it was and what about time on the peak temperature? Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤

Your videos are great. I bought one of your travel mugs and the bottom of your stuff is so amazingly smooth. Maybe you could do a tutorial about how to do that. I use a pretty smooth clay but it does not feel that wonderful after it has been fired.
@OldForgeCreations4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I get that by burnishing the clay after trimming. It definitely has come up in other videos but I'll do a video specifically on it at some point.

What cone does the resulting glaze fire at? Is is possible to make a Cone 6 speckled glaze?

Hi, do you have any recipes or ideas on how to make a low fire version. I am in France and working with low-temp fiance. I've bought some speckled glazes but would really like to make my own.

thanks you are very generous

im wondering what would happen if i skipped the colorant and then additional chemical to control flux. like, just bisqued glaze that i have crushed. does it just go dark, or will it just be a guessing game based on what glaze i add it to? i love your work and appreciate how generous you are with your process!

Does adding these sprinkles increase the chance of glaze crazing?

Curious what the surface texture of the finished pot is like. Is it smooth or do the speckles create a rough surface texture?
@OldForgeCreations2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the glazes you use. If they only just melt, the texture will be bumpy, but once they melt enough to blend together more then it smooths out

When you bisque fire the dried glaze, what did you put it in?
@OldForgeCreations2 жыл бұрын
I use a clay tray. Anything will do really, but a low flat surface is better than a bowl or taller form for even sintering, so I just throw appropriately sized pieces from my usual clay
@thenerdandthehatter3 жыл бұрын
What do you sintered the glaze in to create the crystals?
@alaina9323 жыл бұрын
This may be a silly question but I'm new to pottery. Could I sinter a commercial glaze, like Amaco, and then mix it with another Amaco glaze? I know there isn't much control when using commercial glazes instead of your own so I'm unsure.
@OldForgeCreations3 жыл бұрын
You could, but you'd have to adjust the sintering temp to match the glaze rather than the other way around. For a cone 6 commercial glaze that might mean sintering at something like 850°c rather than a 1000c bisque

Is this better than just flicking on another glaze on top with a brush because the pattern is more consistent?
@crisfer223 жыл бұрын
Definitely more consistent, also the texture is probably different and this method offers much more control over the final results and scalability, which are very important for a professional potter.

Ah-mazing to break up the bisque fired in the metal pan - would a mortar and pestle work better/faster to break up?
@OldForgeCreations4 жыл бұрын
That's not bisque fired at that point, I break it up before bisque firing
@bradellison13454 жыл бұрын
Do you think you could put it in a food processor and get a fine sprinkle throughout? Or would it pulverize it to dust?
@OldForgeCreations4 жыл бұрын
I'm not really sure what you mean. You can crumble the dried glaze without a food processor, from big chunks to fine dust. The only challenge would be finding a sieve that allowed you to limit the maximum size of the pieces to whatever size you wanted for the fine sprinkle.
@bradellison13454 жыл бұрын
@@OldForgeCreations I was just thinking if a fine powder was the goal, you could put that in a food processor and get there pretty quick and the chunks would be pretty consistent.
