The town matriarch and patriarch love living in the heart of Old Town and being the center of society. Their New Orleans town mansion needs a serious overhaul.

I love how you had rooms for Cassandra and Alexander. Grandkid sleepovers are so sweet. You could say that this was an old family home that has been here for generations. Gunther could have grown up here with his sister, Frieda before she left to go to Moonlight Falls!

In my TS4 version, the kids spent all their free time at this house! I love your idea! The nice thing about NOLA architecture is it is decidedly Old World inspired so a generations old home makes sense!

The original Goth Sr mansion feels like it is a Colonial house, which is not really their style so this grey wood, gothic style is right up their alley. I am definitely much satisfied over this makeover!

Yeah it just seemed so awkward. Smaller and moodier was the way to go! Thank you!

Love the idea of the little French Quarter with the repetition of the houses. It may be fun to see you redo each of those for a tiny bit of variety. Perhaps even turn one into a multi-family unit/apartment!

I have a similar idea down the road...very literally. You can see a couple homes that I will be filling to flesh out at the end of the road.

I *LOVE* this house back in TS1! So pretty! Btw I've never noticed this freaking weird two-in-one bathroom situation lol it makes no sense, I'm glad you fixed it! Your remodel turned out so good, as always!

It's such a crazy and awkward build, but making it more compact is better living and yet it is still plenty spacious.

Even after 20 years, the Goths still make me feel poor lol. I was nervous with the wheel spin- very innovative redesigns as always! Knowing Cassandra a bit better (from some other players commentaries) she'd want to live in opulence. Whereas Alexander perhaps would inherit his grandparents home someday. And so the expansion of Mortimer and Bella's makes sense. They still have to work to add to their home.

In this n'hood, the elder Goths do have more, but in my TS4 version, the elders are in this house, and Bella and Mort are in my version of the TS2 house (my favorite of all the Goth houses) so that is definitely the snazzier home.

When playing the Goths in Sims 1, I always switched the parlor and the dining room. I think playing both Goth families in Sims 2 will be more satisfying since they will have actual family ties which I tried to do in Sims 1 with poor results. So hard to keep up relationships never mind trying to create family relationships with another household. Wow, it would never occur to me to downsize the Goth home. It came out wonderfully. I love the gothier look to it, too. I love that you put down duplicate homes to make it look like an old money city street. I love having an attractive and appropriate view from my lot as well as the neighborhood view. Of course Cornelia has to belong to the Garden Club plus all the other cultural and civic clubs that a lady of her station should belong. I picture Cornelia having a mahjong table for weekly games with her friends and then tea and pastries after. I suppose Gunther would like to have cocktail parties where he puts on a little piano recital, unless he's the type that prefers to drink alone. LOL Now I have that George Thorogood song in my head.

The dining room on the opposite side of the house is one of those things that makes you wonder..."have they ever been IN a house???" LOL. I almost put the mahjong table in there rather than MyShuno. It was literally a space issue. I agree she would definitely be the social hostess, and we have another one coming up as well, but I don't think you'll know her very well. I think Gunther starts drinking with friends...and then continues drinking after they go home.

@@VioletKitty411 I just had a thought. Sims 1 Mortimer loves entertaining sims with his puppet skills. So I wonder if as a child, he would entertain his parents' guests with his puppets during their soirees. It could explain Gunther's drinking problem. lol I'm picturing Mortimer putting on a puppet show while Gunther is slinging back the good Scotch. You just know he starts off with wine with dinner, brandy while giving a well-received piano concerto, then he starts hitting it hard. Gunther is a cultured man who generally keeps it together but the more he drinks, the more unrestrained he gets. Poor Cornelia valiantly tries to keeps up the genteel facade, urging Mortimer to keep on with his show as she flits about keeping the guests' attention on Mortimer and not Gunther.

@@estreetangel I think that is clearly the root of the problem! Just a coping mechanism in fear of people criticizing Mortimer's theatrical skill!!!

Love this build! What did you use for the solarium roof? It turned out so great and looks so good in the row of houses.

I used a CC glass floor and then created a grid with the fence tool (Great Divide by Divisive Divicrats in Black). Thank you so much for your comment!
