If I don't have corn starch, I use breadcrumbs and some semolina. To make a sauce: I blend a roasted tomato, some salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, grinded oregano or basil or both and a little bit of oil and I heat the sauce in a pan to get rid of the excess water in the tomato and it's... mmmmmmmhh... Ok so I made this recipe hours after the video came out. Here are a couple things I noticed. 1. It tasted really good! I was skeptical about the cocoa powder but I think it added that depth to taste more meat-like. 2. I don't have any marmite, soy sauce, or bouillon cube. I just roasted the carrots with oil. And I added dark miso to replace the marmite. 3. My mixture was bright orange throughout the entire stovetop cooking process. I wonder if the marmite would've made that difference. 4. I had to let my mixture "burn" a little so I could get the color to change. Then i would stir it up and let it "burn" again. I repeated this until the color was close to what he had. Albeit, I could still see the Orange bits. 4. Roasting the carrots was the longest part. But otherwise the process was a quick a cooking up some ground beef.
@SauceStache3 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! I love this breakdown! The marmite for sure adds an extra level of browning. Cocoa powder is pretty fun to mess with when making mock meats. With beef flavors it really adds a level of depth and richness. Miso was a really good idea! Thanks again!!

Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. 2. Chop tops off carrots and wash. 3. Chop carrots into approx. finger length. 4. Toss carrots in a little olive oil and soy sauce. 5. Put carrots on baking sheet and roast for 15 minutes. 6. Add all taco seasoning in a bowl and mix to combine 7. Smash garlic clove 8. When carrots are done, take out of oven and run under cold water to stop cooking so they're still mostly firm. 9. Separate the firmer carrot pieces from the softer carrot pieces. 10. Put the firmer carrot pieces, and some of the onion, garlic, and cilantro in food processor and pulse until fine chunks. Remove from food processor and put in a bowl 11. Put the softer carrot pieces, and remaining onion, garlic, and cilantro in food processor and pulse into a paste. Remove from food processor and add to the other carrots. 12. Add marmite to carrots and mix to combine. 13. Add olive oil to skillet and heat to medium, medium-high. 14. Add carrots and sautee for about a minute. 15. Add all taco seasoning and mix to combine. 16. Add water, 1 tbsp at a time, until the carrots start to thicken up. Stir to combine, possibly adding more water to thin it out. 17. Remove from heat and prepare tacos. Vegan Sour Cream: Ingredients: - 1 silken tofu - lime juice - 1/4 tsp lactic acid (optional) - 1/4 tsp xanthan gum - 1 pinch salt Instructions 1. Add tofu to a bowl and use a whisk to break it up. 2. Add lime juice and lactic acid. Stir to combine. 3. Add xanthan gum and whisk very quickly. 4. Add salt and whisk to combine

How so? Preparing something other than meat and then calling it meat is, literally, just lying through your teeth. Why do vegans keep trying to make everything look and taste like meat? If it is so bad, stop trying to imitate it. If vegetables could be made to taste exactly like meats, then there would be no more meat since vegetables are much cheaper to produce. People buy and consume meats because they are delicious and vegetables being lied about and called meat are NOT. That's why vegans have to try and trick people into eating that way. And... you think vegans are "scientists" because they crush up random vegetables?

It is infinitely healthier, more ethical and environmentally sound than veganisms nonsense.. but sure, let's "ground carrots" to pretend nutritionally devoid low-bioavailability plant foods with a terrible sustainability/ethical toll (especially when considering the nutrition) are a replacement - they are not. I recommend anyone with a functioning brain to check out sacredcow.info and robb wolf/diane rogers work, among many others.. visit/buy from local farms. @@aniccax6953 Lol another meat eater getting triggered by veganism. Consuming mammals is probably the most unethical thing you do, and you are convinced of the opposite. A billion plus Earthlings never eat meat, and that number is growing. Hopefully this will stop scaring you.

I love the taste tests too. That's like the cherry on top of the recipe! The culmination. Not sharing them is like sharing selfies of a hike up a mountain but not of the view at the top! Also, if someone doesn't taste their food, it makes me think there was something wrong with it. The thing that makes me want to try is often the reactions! So please keep them coming. It makes your recipes feel real and makes you feel like a relatable friend.

I reached the test section. I always do, unless I am following your recipes in my kitchen, then I will skip them evertime. I like the new way to test. It is good to describe and associate the textures and flavors, so we can get a glimpse of the recipe. Cheers!

My meat sauce game started getting real good when i began upping the mirepoix content. I make sure to especially add extra carrots. The bit of sweetness really adds to an otherwise all savory dish. Some of the best meat sauces I've made were only like 20-80 meat to mirepoix. As it happens, meat is actually only needed as a flavoring for meat sauce (for meat eaters that is) and the vegetables are what carry it.

Yes, minced carrot, celery, and onion sauted is called a mirepois (excuse spelling?) base for many classic dishes

I wish they had someone tasting these that was more of a meat eater in general (not just eat meat, but eat mostly meat, or actually dislike most vegetables), both of these individuals seem relatively biased towards enjoying vegetation to begin with.

@@rdizzy1 Dude..... They both have spent the majority of their lives eating meat of all varieties, prepared in many many ways. There taste testing would be 'non biased'.... Having someone else who typically does not like any vegetables taste test them is a great idea though, for sure! 👍

I love the addition of the taste test. I've been a fan of yours since before you regularly had her come and taste your creations. Back when you usually ended with a blurry close-up while exclaiming, "I mean, look at this!" Honestly, I could die happy when you do that. The taste test gives us a realistic expectation as to what to expect when we try out your recipes. My wife and I run a cooking show here called Klutzy Kitchen, and it was in part inspired by your channel. Please continue your taste tests, because they are immensely helpful.
