The way you make them with XGen is very similar to how you'd make them with Blender, only difference is that you'd have to make the hair material yourself. I find that a simple color ramp (darker base, lighter tips) does wonder, just base color, and for extra depth, multiply blend the color based on the position of the hair (darker further back, lighter in front), can also be used to get height map.

To me the hardest part is shading, the normals from the cards, etc. Unfortunately there's not a lot of tutorials about this. Can you make a tutorial covering those parts someday?

I actually ended up taking a course on how to do hair cards properly and it was pretty much your xgen method with additional nuggets of knowlage, you know adding modifiers and stuff.

Terrific tutorial. At the end in the Marmoset render, I'm assuming you applied the maps to a plane. Is that right? I was hoping to do something in Blender before moving on

Could you not use X normals for maybe better results for the photoshop one? They all look amazing. I love fibershop but they really make abit more choppy cards but i think thats becuase i cant use it very well haha
@danduw3d11 ай бұрын
meh! maybe! big thing I push with my tuts is to keep them as simple as possible so you're not jumping from software to software, so just showing the basic way of making the textures!

Oww yer i think thats for the best overall just wondered if it might work better for something for a case by case bases sorry didn't meant to come off like i was questioning your pipeline. ^_^ @@danduw3d

can you make second part hair on head

Fibershop is quite laggy if you have like many trands of hair
@ztoogemcducc6360 Жыл бұрын
Can you place or generate hair in fiber shop? I don't mind making hair textures myself but I do hate placing hair cards it feels clunky in almost every software.
