Making Harvest Moon / Howling Wolf Cold Process Sculpted Landscape Soap - Bentonite Clay & Charcoal

I'm not quite ready to let go of fall just yet, and wanted to share my version of a harvest moon that I made a few weeks ago. Against the moon's glow, you can see the silhouette of a howling wolf, and well as light outlines of a cliff.
This is scented with a sexy blend of mahogany with notes of sandalwood, toasted coconut, oakmoss and vanilla. It smells absolutely amazing and could definitely pass as a men's cologne, although everyone raves about it!
I am in love with the way it turned out!

Omg I'm half Cherokee and I absolutely love this SOAP it's my fav out of every SOAP I've seen this entire year... I have to go into the hospital today for pneumonia , so they can do surgery on my hip, it's gorgeous though. It reminds me of that movie Alpha. Incredibly well made and BEAUTIFUL.. I hope someone special wins it. I wouldn't use it if put it in my shower on my DIY bamboo shelf I made my self or the carousel. Gorgeous

Well, that was new info, I know bentonite clay is used on deep ground perforations in wet soil, or like so deep it passes water level, cause its super absorbent and it prevents the hole from collapsing and also on my cats litter 🤣🤣 Didn't know it had cosmetics properties, anyway incredible soap, even the legs detail, it looks amazing!

Thank you! It does offer some great benefits for your skin (of course, it's pure and cosmetic grade, so possibly not the exact one you'd use in litter, lol) but it does color your soap a grayish color and I rarely use it for this reason. With a mostly black soap, I was able to use it without worrying about my design being ruined 😊

Thank you! My advice would be not to go crazy with fancy oils, or too many different ingredients. Find a simple, tried and true recipe until you understand the concept, and learn how to control your trace (learning to spot it and emulsion are some of the most important things that you could learn!). Don't try to speed things up or take shortcuts, slow and steady wins the race. Also, if you use fragrances, go through reviews and stick with those that behave well, don't rice or accelerate (and preferably decelerate or slow down your trace). Then you could slowly expand and try new techniques and additives, one by one to see the difference and decide whether or not you want to keep using them. It's a fun journey, and you'll be addicted in no time at all :) Good luck!

Yes I do! It is called the CPOP (cold process oven process) method and just ensures a full gel phase, while letting the soap cool down gradually and evenly... this prevents cracking, too!

Hello sister, for eczema try homemade body better, for your soaps you can ask the maker for 10% or mor super fat in your soaps so it will not dry your skin. God bless you..

Do you male multiple batches of soap batter so that each layer has time to harden?

I do normally make multiple loaves, but not separate batches for each layer. I just whisk the main batch by hand and add the fragrance to and blend only the portion that I am working with for that layer. This way the portion for the layer I am working on hardens more quickly while my main soap remains fluid for a while longer.
