Note that living in Malaysia entails learning the Malay language. Please take note! Malays can be friendly to foreigners but patience do wear thin if they don't converse like the locals after living for several years in Malaysia. English is only spoken as a main language in KL and urban Selangor, the most liberal and secular part of the country.

as a Malaysian, i'd say if you're leaving in like the area near Selangor, KL and Putrajaya you will get by with english, places like up north like Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis, they speak malay and their own slang of malay too, but there im sure there are people there who do speak a bit of English and understand, as English is taught in public schools

PPl just need to understand Malaysia got independence around 60 yrs so its difficult to turn 180 degrees to total islamic, especially with trying to dismantling the western legak system needs time and proper understanding and it doesn't help that most leaders are western educated (We need a great Islamic university that is repected and can cope with the demands of current issues) so Malaysia has like a hybrid western and Islamic law which we know doesn't work, on top of that the British came with influx of non muslims to the country at some point there were more non Muslims than Muslims in Malaysia but lots of them went back because of the war in Chinese civil war. Its easy to criticize a country but appreciate if ppl start learning the reasons so we can collectively address the issues at hand

I didn't realize your point about LGBT in Malaysia being quite rampant because I didn't find it out openly like in the west, and we are very conservative and generally quite strongly against it on the surface. But when I found out that you working an Islamic school teacher then I found out it makes sense that Islamic schools or boarding schools are known as where it started. Even they end out married and with kids but discreetly queer. Idk maybe the same situation in other Islamic countries perhaps, fitna and enemy of Islam (devil includes) knowing how to do their works. That's why I'm kinda worried to send my kids to boarding school even if it's 'Islamic'.

When my brother had his daughter a few years ago he did hijrah to join !y other brother with his family in Jeddah. Soon, the west is going become an extremely difficult place for us muslims to live in and practice deen. Major false flags are imminent, it will become an unsafe place for muslims. Not only that but the stuff their teaching from nursery onwards is messing up our children. If you have the means to, time is now to make hijrah!

Interesting to see, always wondered why a lot of muslims are making hijrah here in Malaysia. I think when it comes to racism, in Malaysia it's prevalent in our politics. If you're a foreigner (ie white or as we call it mat saleh) I think Malaysians will try to milk you for money or discriminate you probably due to our colonial past. Being child of diplomat and having lived in various countries and cities (mainly Muslim, Alhamdulillah) it's quiet eye opening how different some of the muslim countries are. I did find myself dreading living in Berlin, when I was studying in uni, glad I finished and am back home in Malaysia

With foreigners depends on where you are from i guess, but if your white/white passing the taxis, markets and bazaars might try and get more money out of you. But i feel generally they are nice (nicer than people in EU and US, based on my experience living overseas) but don't take my word for it, cuz i have been in and out of the current, and i rarely go to KL and Selangor i live like 30 mins outside KL. People in Putrajaya (where i live are nice)

As a revert Muslim I retired to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) from the USA. My time there lasted 8 months. It was not the place I had hoped. The level of fitna concerning LGBTQ was worse than western countries. Other negative things that motivated me to leave included the never ending hot and humid weather, buying property as a foreigner had extremely high government minimums, the food was only good at the nice 4 and 5 star hotels and restaurants, and they were extremely racist against my asian wife. After doing more research for a better alternative, Turkey seems to be better in that it is a 4 season country, foreigners can buy property without restrictions, Islam is on the rise with a leader promoting Islam, and the local food is good.

I'm a Bosnian Muslim who went to school for one year in Republika Srpska, the Serbian, non-Muslim part of Bosnia, although, I travelled to many parts of Bosnia. It is a very secular society in Bosnia. There are few Bosnian Muslims who pray five times a day. Islam is more of a cultural phenomenon not taken seriously by the vast majority. You'll be able to practice your Islam in Bosnia without much problem, particularly in the Muslim part of Bosnia (Federacija). However, the fitna of uncovered women, music, people drinking everywhere, is prevalent wherever you go. The economy is very weak. People are leaving due to lack of employment opportunities and standard of living. All in all, I wouldn't recommond Bosnia for hijrah purposes. It would only make sense to live in Bosnia if finances were not a problem, and you have Bosnian family living in Bosnia.

That is true, in Malaysia we have a big problems with foreigners, there are at least 250k rohingyas living in the country illegally and unregistered, not accounting millions of undocumented foreign workers, the whole country are shaking and defensive with foreigners and many felt that illegal immigrants are taking away jobs from locals due to their low pay and are vulnerable to abuse. The govt are doing nothing about this and everyone thinks that this is not going to change anytime soon.

White privilege in Arab countries, not a surprise. Most have the same racist ideology as whites in the USA. It is sad as an African American Muslim to want to be open to the idea of visiting or living in a Muslim Arab country, but to be reminded that I will only be trading one headache for another due racism. Racism in arab countries is not exactly black and white in terms of clarity. There is racism towards black people but it is mainly aimed at those coming from Africa, unless you are coming from Sudan there might be some leeway. From what I understand Black people from the west such as UK and US don't get treated badly, as they are seen as a higher class. There are also many cases of arabs marrying black people.

@precizion Salam Alaikum, This is a misconception, I lived in Brunei for 3 years and I can tell you the only time you see a police officer is when they are escorting one of the royal family members somewhere. It is a very sleep and peaceful country, the people are friendly and life is super relaxed. That being said you need to have a job before you can reside in the country, but if you can find something I recommend it to people who love nature.

@precizion There are a lot of government programs to help citizens in Brunei, some do not fill in the paperwork to get the handouts and enjoy their simple lives (this is indicative of those that live in the water village). There are however some very wealthy citizens outside of the royals and lots of opportunities for locals. I would say the Gap is larger than for example Qatar (where I currently live). The Amir here takes good care of his people and there is little to know poverty amongst the locals.

Well I live in Norway and even though it's non muslim country, people are polite, trustworthy, nobody steals here, you can trust them. Institutions treat everybody equally, freedom of religion is here. Their manners are so good. Sometimes we consider to do hijrah for the sake of our kids, but where? Saudi Arabia is full of racism and unequality, Saudi citizen is always superior to non Saudi, Asian countries are full of shirk, peers, biddah, toxic culture... north African countries are also not ideal... Not to mention that fitnah is widely spread there as well, women walk without proper covering, music is everywhere, drugs are in schools, porn is everywhere, and locals are much more racist than Europeans. So I guess we will just stay here in Norway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s interesting you make those points. I live in Toronto and you can feel like your in Muslim country depending in which area you live in. One issue with living in Muslim countries is being “too Islamic” you sometimes get the reverse racism where locals discount you for being a practicing Muslim. They are trying to chase the western lifestyle while you may be trying to escape it.

Reality is that the ads are tailored to your interests. Things you frequently view and consume online will dictate what kinda ads you get. The only ads I ever see are some type of religious content or “entrepreneurs” selling me their systems. Because all I view on KZbin is business or Islamic content. So maybe you should avoid consuming that other stuff. Then the ads will stop offering you more of it. The algorithm thinks you like it because of your history on the app.

Beautiful idea the issue is my daughter and wife only speak English, my son also only speaks English, as parents we know a teacher will do much better than us in teaching kids. Also for children it's good for them to have children in their environment to learn from and share ideas, values etc.

If you go to redlight and seedy areas of course you can find it but mostly by foreigners but not openly. This is quite a free society although conservative. Being multiracial/multireligious, you can choose what life you want to be. Malaysian are not generally racists, the political situation seem racists because the majority Muslims native 65% are defending their constitutional rights and priveledges that they deemed to be threatened. The situation is like that of Singapore or Fiji.

I’ve been in Malaysia for 4 years and certainly would not recommend anyone seeking Islam to migrate here. The dominant aqeedah is Ashari, ‘wahabis’ are denounced from the pulpit, and Islam is little more than a culture. Bidah reigns and ignorance is prevalent. Open Shirk is protected, encouraged and participated in, tabbaruj is rampant and Dayuth are everywhere. In general, the people are probably the best you’ll meet in terms of worldly manners and goodness, but from a deen perspective- this is not the place.

@@djamaluddin wa alaikum as salam - I think no matter where we go, we’re going to notice shortcomings in relation to the application of the religion on both a state and individual level. I’ve only been to Saudi, Yemen and now Malaysia and never unfortunatly as a student of knowledge. Brother Sajid or Muhammed would be in a better position to advise regarding the best places to study the deen.
