Although Bunting's scoring was unbelievable, his doubles were far too bad to qualify for semi finals. The real class is to win even playing bad, like Michael Smith did. Congratulations to Bully Boy, but he will need to improve his scoring in semi finals. We all know that he can do that. Match against Cullen proved that.

As soon as Clayton starts going bellow the T20 or into the 1 and/or 5 bed, he nearly always loses unless his finishing is above 50% and/or his opponent has a stinker. This was a massive missed opportunity for the Ferret.

at 3:13, why did Van den Bergh go for the 3 and then double 1, and not 1 and double 2?

Because he only had 2 darts left to throw. That way, if he busts it by throwing 1, he's back to 10, which is better than ending on 2 when you throw a 2 with your last dart when you're on 4. Of course if you don't bust yourself with a 1, like what happened now, you're still stuck on 2 and it doesn't matter. It could also be that some players actually prefer double 1 over double 2, because double 1 is closer to the more usual double 20. You see this more often with players who would also go for double 20 instead of double 16 when they have the option to set up their ending double that way.

if smith raises his personal belief in himself to that of say MVG or other top mental strong players with his natural effortless throw he could become almost unbeatable ...the physical throw is silky smooth just lacks a a tad of stone balls mentally ...love his throw and wishing him these heights to come ... i just dont think he anywhere near what he can become ...deadly good imo far beyond how good he is now ..

@@2004flippy I think Bunting played fantastic this tournament, scoring was consistently up there with the very best. Doubles just weren't there today. Imagine missing 44 darts at double and still averaging 97. Could have been a scarily good performance that if some of those went.

van den Bergh's gamesmanship worked on Johnny with taking an age to approach the oche, horrible to see that behaviour, MVG battered him in the semi despite even worse gamesmanship (cheating). Can't stand players who resort to this, it doesn't make for a good watch.
