Hey sir, I tried calling hipshot about the inserts.. they didn't carry them. Would love to buy some from you.

These look great. I see many possibilities some of my future builds. Would having the CNC stop sort of the bottom be an option? Then just take them to the belt sander to free them from the blank? I do this all the time with the dot inlays I make. Just an idea! Nice work!

benfordguitars hey thanks for watching! Yes, doing an onion cut on the bottom is an option...... but I prefer to cut thru when I can. This spalted maple blows out when you look at it wrong, so I definitely needed to stabilize it before the last op.

That is pretty awesome! What CNC do you have? What was the bit you used to round over the edges? How did you had it to the tool selection in your CNC? I hope that wasn't too many questions. I have wanted to add a round over bit and I'm not sure how to add it to the tool selection. Thanks, Gary

Thanks Gary! It’s a K2 CNC (out of biz) running mach 3 from a PC. I used BobCad/Cam to program the part, and there was not a round over available to use...... So I used a .005” end mill (since my roundover bit comes to a point), and did a profile pass with the depth set to match the shoulder (or top) of the round-over, I did a slow ramp to get it to depth..... you can tell I went about .010” too deep, so you have to play with it....... sux that the simulation doesn’t show it thou! I just changed over to Fusion 360 this last week, and although I didn’t re program this part..... I did add another larger round-over for body edges, and I worked like a champ!!! You can even draw a profile of a custom ground tool, and use it for simulations! Mark #fusion360rocks

@@VCustomShop Thanks for the reply. I have a LongMill 30x30 and I use Carbide Create for now. I have tried Fusion 360 in the past and that’s a little above my pay grade. 😀 One day maybe I’ll understand it. - Gary
