seal the sinker cavities and the flat surfaces of the boards with candle wax so they don't stick together. Once you put a few layers of wax on the wood it become nonstick like teflon for example. You can also use several coats of old motor oil to seal the wood and cavities.

I did the same thing with two 1 inch copper plates. I used cotter pens for eyes.

quick and cheap mold for deep drop weights , cut electric pvc conduits to length desired then wrap aluminum foil to the end as a plug then pour the open end when done split the pvc with a cutting disc, a 1" dia pvc at 4" will produce a 14 oz sinker or those aluminum wind chines have very thin aluminum tubing makes a good mold and cheap

I mean it will work just fine, i have used nuts and bolts before when I forgot my sinkers. Worked just fine. Using the oil filter wrench to hold the hot can when you poured was smart.

Yes the oil filer wrench came in really handy glad you agree, this is my first time pouring sinkers and I’ll probably end up investing in a real mold because I’ve got a lot of lead when my dad passed, mainly gonna use them for some..experiments in a few areas I’ve never fished.

@@CatfishCameron sorry to hear about your dad. Mine passed away in 2013 . hey the mold worked and so will the sinkers you made. catfishing doesn't have to be pretty. So making your own works In many ways. And it's cheaper in the long run. The pre made molds are nice too cause you can make an exact weight that you need. The big ones you made would work great for flatheads. 3 way/ Kentucky rig or sante copper rigs are the way to go with flatheads. They have an under bite so it's hard for them to take your bait off the bottom. So the 3 way rig helps them eat the bait easier when it's off the bottom. Down on the rio Grande in Las Cruces New Mexico there's some nice flatheads and blue catfish with your name on it. I'll always tune in man, I love fishing and especially catfishing more than anything in life.

I thought the wood would smoke a bit. I need to make a fifty-pound pyramid weight for a drift boat anchor. I was thinking of making a plywood or a concrete mold. I'm just trying to figure out how to DIY. Cheers from Vancouver Island Bro. :)

That’s gonna be some hot lead 50 pound holy, I would probably do the concrete mold sounds cheaper but make sure it had no moisture 🦅

Yeah cabelas has all the goodies, the wood mold is a good way to try it out and see if you want to go and get the nicer mold, I like the small stick ones for the water treatment👍🏼

depth of holes and dia would give me a idea of drilling thank's/verses weight.

, 1/4 1/2 , and 1inch diameter to any depth you need, I need 10 oz weights and sometimes not even a ounce, depth at your discretion
