They are valuable to your space though overgrown, you can prune or take cuttings to propagate more. Medicinal, widely beloved grounding fragrance.

Next to preserve the color try this. Instead of water bathing them warm your jars in the oven on 250 and boil your lids as you're making your jelly. Remove the jars and fill them. Wipe the edges, place the lids and tighten them. Now flip them upside down for about 10 minutes. Then stand them upright. After about a half hour you'll hear the lids sealing. The hot jelly will kill any bacteria you may have gotten on the lids. My grandma always sealed her jellies that way. And she lived to be almost 100! Now the tricky part with the kids is being quick. But it's such a joy to teach them.

Thanks so much for subbing and watching! It is a really yummy jelly :) in our town almost every house has a couple lilac bushes, it is one of the few plants that grows well in our dessert and the deer don't eat them :)

Homestead Odyssey I have recently purchased a jar of rose jam(jelly) and it doesn’t seem to hold together at all and is kind of soupy. Is that normal and do you think it’s safe to eat?
@HomesteadOdyssey
@HomesteadOdyssey 4 жыл бұрын
@@RaniTsunami I can't say if its safe or not but it could be they didn't have enough pectin in it to hold it together or didn't cook it correctly. If it was sealed most likely its ok but I can't say for sure since I don't know how they made and sealed it.

What a cute kid!!! Im wondering... The half jar that had the nice colour... Did it still seal without being processed?

We didn't wait and see, next time I may wait and see if it seals without processing to keep the color. I know its technically a no no
