Made some of the 422C Recipe with collected resin and toilet seal wax (beeswax) and a bit of a crayon for colour. Turned out great! Thanks for posting this informative video, Cheers from Canada!

I like this way of making this wax and am wondering if instead of pouring it into a mold if it can be poured into a covered tin or rather a small tin jar with a screw on lid like a small make up up tin or lip balm tin with a screw on lid for use and storage to take up less room or stacking in a drawer?

Does someone know it substituting mineral oil in plce of castor oil will work OK? Thanks

Thanks Eric I'm going to give this a try. I'm curious if you've tried adding dyes to the wax mixture to provide a similar effect as cobblers wax.

I made some of this, and it seem to react to cold water. When it becomes cold it’s hard and smooth. What should I do to the wax to help me on my surfboard?

I have got Linseed Oil ( Resin) Castor Oil and Beeswax All in liquid form. Do l need to heat it up first, or at all 4:18 ?
@traditionalfliesanddries59627 ай бұрын
It's NOT resin. It's rosin. For violin bows.

Thanks for doing this tutorial. I have been hoping you would make it. Have you tried using inexpensive bow rosin for stringed instruments in lieu of the what you used in your tutorial? Have a great day and stay safe.
@traditionalfliesanddries59623 жыл бұрын
Yes I have. Works fine, but I didn't find it to be inexpensive. But maybe you know something I don't. Also, you have to get it off the piece of wood it's on and crush it up. The Diamond Rosin is $12 but you get a lifetime supply of crushed rosin, all ready to go. I think there are other less expensive versions out there too in large quantities. Keep in mind you'll probably have to make this every year and a half of so. You can always cut my recipe in half though, 35g rosin, 10g of beeswax and 5g of Castor oil. That's probably about right to cover you and your friends for a year or two.

@@traditionalfliesanddries5962 Thank you Eric I will follow your recommendations makes more sense. Most likely I won't be making this for a few months as it will take some time to get everything together. Will be sharing it with several Project Healing Waters groups that I belong to. Going to make the sticky wax too. Should I put it in a tube or a small tin?
@traditionalfliesanddries59623 жыл бұрын
@@stevetrybalski3082 I put it small clear envelopes that I store wet flies in. But a tin should work fine too. I like these from Clearbags: www.clearbags.com/3-x-2-crystal-clear-zip-bags-100-pieces-zc32.html They're cheap and perfect for wax and wet fly storage both. They have other sizes as well, great for storing all kinds of materials. They are side open so it's easier to get things in and out.

Hate to be the fact guy but I don't believe you can market bees wax or bee products as organic, as it is too difficult to know where the bees are foraging

The spelling is wrong . Its Resin not Rosen. No wonder you are pronouncing it wrong.
@traditionalfliesanddries59627 ай бұрын
Nope, both spelling and pronounciation are correct. It's the stuff used with violin bows to give them more purchase on the strings (friction). Resin is the stuff you pour on your garage floor when you want an new surface, or the epoxy like substance you cure with a black light.
@timapple65866 ай бұрын
@@traditionalfliesanddries5962 Sadly, now you probably have to explain what violins are, and that you don't use a bow for hunting them. ;)
