Always used double tracking, but now I can hear huge difference when adding take copies with lower gain, this makes much more attack on guitars, thank you!

Looking forward to the rest of the series. I have Bias FX2, ML Soundlab plugins, GGD etc... but i haven't been able to get mixes i'm satisfied with. So now i'm in the process of learning how to record and mix better.

@@AteshElectric Will do. I have a Schecter Omen-7, i have stock pickups in it but atm i'm replacing the bridge pickup with the Seymore Duncans Nazgul pickup. It should make some difference.

@@jani14jani oh yess. never tried them myself, but they sound gnarly judging by the videos I've seen/soundbytes I've heard! that should get you awesome results. and i really like schecters. almost all the schecters (like 95%) i've tried were really solid and reliable guitars. thats more than most companies :)

Wow great video, exactly what I was looking for, subbed! Can you maybe a seperate video on how to program realistic E-guitars? There are many tutorials, but many of them don't explain how the instrument works and the possibilities, so it's a bit hard for non-guitar players. Anyway great job, I'm looking forward to see more!

Hello and thank you for your little tutorial series! I have a question about stereo/mono mixing. I see your amps are set to mono. When i pan L/R and it comes to mixing/mastering, should i leave it mono? Because i have tried this and i think stereo sounds better. And I see the option is grayed out on your amps. I can still switch them. It would be nice if you could give me a short answer if one should leave it on mono or is it just a matter of taste? EDIT: I am only working with VST Guitars. Does this maybe makes a difference?

Hey thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! I always record mono. If i am recording something like a solo, then i will use my amp sim in “mono to stereo” to be able to use the stereo effects on my amp sim, like a delay. But if i am recording rhythm guitars, i always use mono out. I record seperate takes for left and right and when they are combined they become stereo (left and right channels are different than each other). Traditionally guitars are mono signals. The stereo mode exists to be able to work with already double tracked guitars, meaning you already tracked your guitars and you are reamping and you want the left and right channels to be the same sound (which is fine!). And yes if that is the case for you, it wont sound good mono. In that case i would def use stereo. Hope this helps, let me know if you need further detail.

Youre most welcome, glad it helps. I wouldnt advice against ableton, i used it for a while. In fact i like it better than logic in some cases. But overall, i think logic has a better workflow for me. Its easier to set up buses and whatnot. But whatever you think you can work with peacefully should work just fine.

Thanks for the advice. I will be getting a Scarlett audio interface and Ableton lite will be included. That's really the only reason I am thinking of starting off with Ableton specifically but I am a glad it's a viable option for what I would like to do. Once it's time for an upgrade I suppose I will try different daws You seem like a great musician, I will definitely be checking you out on Spotify :)

Thx very much for the video :) Question: when double tracking where to put fx like reverb / delay ? Do you put them as a track insert (potential phase issues ?) or on an aux bus ? P & L

Youre most welcome, glad it helps! As for the delay/reverb, I send all tracks to a bus and do everything there. Sometimes i will use the plugin as an insert on the bus, sometimes i will create another bus for said effect (especially if i am doing automation work)

Do you still hard pan with quad tracking? What if you do 100% on one pair, then 50% or 75% or something like that for the other pair?

I sometimes do exactly that, but a tiny bit narrower, not a lot. I like them to stay on the sides so there is space in the middle for other things. Hope it helps!

Can I maybe record a DI and use the same one on the left and the right but re-amp the tone ? Would that work or I need to play the same part on two different DIs ?
