this is how game assets are predominantly made. mod is always a better approach to anything even things you would think are organic. snap it together and go. designing modules for whatever your going for is just a smart time saver and multiplier.

Finally - a USEFUL tutorial on modular modeling. The relocation of origins to make things easier is genius. As simple as it sounds, I don't think I would have ever thought of it. Thanks!

Was looking for this particular video! Just so fascinated by the Mirrors Edge inspiration, and now by the game's artstyle itself.

You liked my video on Instagram now I retroactively watch all your videos (I had seen a bunch of videos but I considered myself beginner so I haven't watched too many videos to challenge that but I'm really excited to binge your video & see which ones are applicable to me)

Great behind the scenes look into your design process. A great video overall.

Really nice work! My day job is in structural engineering, so I've been putting together a kitbash library of elements I need in structural models (created in Revit) it's really useful having these to add into my personal work, they add a large amount of realism very quickly.

This is great. I couldn’t help but notice the symbology on the vertical wall panels. I’ll just say “pretenama.” 😁

Great info. While we'd like to think we live in an organic world, humans impose structure from which modular approaches can streamline design. Appreciate your sharing all your insights. 😊🙏

Really interesting stuff! This definitely changes the way I think about building 3D environments

Yes. This is an excellent way to teach 3D modelling and rendering; afterall, the container 'form' is literally imprinted in our minds by now. It's like letters in an alphabet.

Fantastic tutorial! Blender massively needs a way of creating custom snaps for modular work. Real-life fittings aren't made to suit a grid. I know that in Unreal you can use Sockets from the rigging system. Is there something similar in Blender that could be hacked to create snaps that aren't dependant on the grid? Thanks
@francoismurrell46043 жыл бұрын
you can technically use the 3D cursor to snap objects to its location, useful for fitting two cylindrical objects perfectly inside each other. It is tedious and repetitive though for multiple objects

Funnily enough, I've been thinking of revisiting Mirror's Edge recently. What a great game.

Are the floor panels missing a harden normal / weighted normal, or is that an intentional effect?

love the stuff, but just FYI, rivets are not use anymore in current construction due to their labor cost and waste of materials

Container architecture is primitive ... and inhumane. Whoever loves that is probably a container himself?

@@3dviz332 I love plump, playful, old buildings. I find containers repulsive. It reminds me of concentration camps for chickens.
