I can't like this video enough!! They just recieved my second box yesterday, and I am shipping my third box today. They are wonderful to work with, their website and their discussion forums are a treasure trove of information, and I am HOOKED!!! I just wish I lived just a little closer...8 hr. drive one way. Then they would get ALL my stuff instead of me depopulating lesser boards for the good stuff and selling off the garbage to my local yard! GREAT video, Shark!!!

I sent a few boxes worth out to them. The one time I didn't send pictures my boards where downgraded, loosing some money. Now they mention to wait for an email response before you send it out. You can print either the email or the form from the site, it will have the same info, unless Chris makes a suggestion. I am going to look into more cost effective shipping options. Spending $20 in a flat rate pack only to get $7 back profit doesn't work.
@sharkscrapper2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any downgraded...yet. They did upgrade some boards for me once. For other shipping options try Pirate Ship and FEDEX. Pirate Ship offers very good discounts on UPS and USPS. It will automatically find the cheapest rate and give you options. Very easy to use. I have a corporate account with FEDEX for my larger boxes, 20+ lbs. My shipping averages around $1/lb.
@boardsort2 жыл бұрын
Flat rate priority mail boxes are extremely cost effective. If I were to offer a suggestion, it would be to wait until you have more material to ship. Yes, putting $27 worth of material in a $20 flat rate box seems a bit futile. Consider saving up more scrap, or at least a higher value scrap before mailing it in. And make sure you are confident in the grades of the material you are shipping. As far as waiting for a reply before shipping, that is only if you email me with a question about a board, otherwise you will only receive an automated email acknowledging that a quote has been made.

Good morning Shark, I just went and watched this video about sorting for board sort. Very informative, I have recently been given a bunch of e-waste and I need to sort them. Some are Cisco's and Fortinet Switch Boards ( 8 to 24 port) and I was wondering how to rate those boards and how to class them also. Thanks for the videos and I will be going back to watch all of them. Take care brother and I will see you on the next video.

@sharkscrapper8 ай бұрын
They will BUT they charge you for the time they have to spend sorting it. My recommendation is take a little time and sort the boards the best you can using the information provided on their website and what I share on my videos. Check out the videos in this playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLPCBlDcDB_dwM2w8yUTbQT_nba8DMJBuO they're all about how to grade various boards. I'm happy to help as well if you email me pics at sharkscrapper@gmail.com. It is well worth taking a little time to learn and sort before sending boards to boardsort.com.

Don't do that, you have no idea what you'll get paid for. Separate the material as best you can. They understand mistakes get made and don't mind a little small adjustments but sending them ewaste soup is not a good idea. I can help teach you how to identify boards and they have a very good forum on their webpage to help.

We all know that the word "Fragile" to the Post office means to toss it around carelessly and play Dodgeball with it. Also, never Hint on what's inside of the package by writing on the outside of the package the contents. (for instance, if you process Precious metals, don't put your company name in the return address label.) Also, the use of those air packs to ship circuit boards is a very BAD idea. Just think about it... The circuit boards have many sharp and pointy edges on them. One little poke from a thru leg or corner will instantly pop the cushion rendering it useless. Your best bet is to use closed cell foam like the kind furniture stores use to protect furniture.

Sometimes - at the Post Office Packet Department they are not as Careful either as they throw Packets on Top of Packets and a few split open - we have Reinforced our Boxes by Rapping them in Packing Tape - specially the Corners and it Helped a Lot - just saying - when we ship Boxes to Auction Houses we include our Full Address inside the Box to be seen as soon as it is opened - also our Address twice on the Outside of the Box in Black Marking Pen ! And a Full Sheet describing the Full Inventory inside the Box - Also as You said have Your Box lined inside with only Bubble Wrap and bubble wrap each Item as well - all our Stuff always got to the Auction Houses Intact ! You Gave Us a Fantastic Explanation that was really easy to Understand about the Boards and Ram etc - very,very Interesting and Informative - Thank You ! I'm not familiar with this website but something tells me they're not going to give me anywhere near the value of ewaste. Nearly every recycler I've came across rips off the people like me who does all the hard work. My advice to you people is learn how to depopulate the boards quickly and know what components are worth spending your time collecting. Don't just focus on gold. You'd be surprised how much silver and gold are in IC chips. There's only money in this business if you can process this stuff with a minimal amount of time and a massive amount of parts. Neither of which most people have. Also consider that sometimes the parts themselves can sell online for much more than you're going to get for scrap. If you have old processors they're worth way more than these recyclers are going to give you and you can sell them to retro PC building groups all day long. It's a travesty to destroy such rare CPU's for scrap. They're becoming rarer and rarer and it's because people are destroying them for a tiny bit of gold recovery. Sad.
@sharkscrapper3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mikey - A lot of people think they can make more depopulating boards. IF they have the knowledge, skills, space and time to depopulate, process and sell then yes there are marginal gains. I've also seen many scrappers believe they are making more because they discount some of the costs/risks involved with certain processes. After nearly six years in this business, I've found that the vast majority of scrappers are missing one or more of the necessary components to be able to make more than if they just sell to a reputable place such as BOARDSORT.COM. You'll see as you watch more of my videos that I try to help scrappers understand the pros and cons of the many ways to deal with ewaste and general scrap so they can make better informed decisions on how they want to treat their scrap. There is no one right way to do this as every scrapper out there is operating under differing situations. This is just one of many videos I've shared to help scrappers improve their situation. Thank you for contributing to the discussion. I look forward to more you engagement.
