I owned Impreza RS 2.5 lt in the past and when this model was introduced I planned to buy one but after seeing the pathetic power output and torque, I ended up buying VW GTi. What shocked me is this stock WRX with huge displacement advantage over the GR Corolla (2388 cc vs 1618 cc , 42.5% bigger engine) produces less power and less torque. Disappointing. No excuse Subaru, your product is inferior to GR Yaris, Corolla and even Hyundai Elantra.N.

@@valentinorossi7771 We also own a GR Yaris and did a dyno comparison. As expected the WRX runs very low boost from factory it has a lot more scope for cost effective tuning than the Yaris/Corolla.

@@valentinorossi7771 Edge Motorsport got over 360 WTRQ and 300 WHP with stage 1 tune on pump gas, no mods. The capability of this engine is insane, you can blow any GR corolla, Yaris whatever out the water with under $1000. Also a base WRX vs the GR Corolla is WAY cheaper.

Plus this WRX has a 47.5% displacement advantage over GR so naturally if you modify then it should produce much more power. Think about this: A welterweight (147 lbs weight limit) boxer like Sugar Ray Leonard ,as excellent as he was, would not have stood a chance against a 217 lbs heavyweight like Ali or Tyson. Hope that example makes you understand better.

That "spew tank" is the resonator for the intake. Not for water at all. It's a tuned box to stop the "fkn whoosh" you get. An OG rexy mod was to remove it for more intake drama. It's technical name is a helmholtz resonator

Hearing a lot of good things about this gen of wrx. Block seems pretty sturdy, like it's ready to make power between 300-400hp reliably. Might keep my eye on these in a few years when I buy my next car

Looks like it'd go well! Though 200kw from 20psi on a 2.4 seems low, maybe exhaust is a big restriction? Looking forward to more results from future upgrades

It doesn't make 20psi at peak power, more mid range. The torque spread is what makes it feel responsive.

That and you’re probably seeing a lot of dyno Jet numbers which are generally 14% higher than most other dynos providing they’re correcting to J1349.

Thing is not one car tuner in Perth can do anything for the new FA24F engine yet, everyone of them and even the high end places pike Maximum sport and Tokyo Motorsport can't tune them yet, no software. Did you manage to get the centre caps for your wheels?

When comparing intercoolers, one method that accurately shows the volume of of the cores and end housing is to fill them with a measured amount of water. Compare the two amounts - easy! Thais can also be done when comparing turbo compressor and turbine housings. Cheers

Is aftermarket intercooler a must ? How much less power if without it ?

We ran it up on another dyno with an updated tune and it made consistent 210kW, around 10kw more than other cars using the factory intercooler on the same dyno.

Sold my 04 wrx with 200+ KW few months ago. To be honest, I’m too old to bear the rumble from subie, drive wise is perfect but the loud exhaust is turn me off hence sold the car lol.

Just an air filter alone in the standard box makes huge noise difference in these. Personally I wouldn't even bother with the intake.

We just got the Process West parts here in the US recently. I installed the same intake, charge pipe and intercooler as in this video, along with a Go Fast Bits DV+ BPV and 35% ethanol fuel, and my ‘22 WRX made 390hp/390ft-lbs on a Dynojet AWD dyno. The car made 439ft-lbs but we limited it to 390 to protect the transmission and head studs so now it makes 390ft-lbs in a flat line from 3300rpm to 4600rpm. The car feels like an absolute rocket ship and does low 3 second 0-60mph launches on street tires. It’s interesting to see how you tuned it. With my car we made 9 dyno runs total, adjusting the tune each time until it was perfectly optimized for both wide open throttle pulls and part-throttle daily driving. I imagine there’s a lot more power and safety left in those pre-fabbed tunes you used on yours. I’d be scared to run a one-size-fits-all tune long term on a Subaru making a lot more power than stock. Is it hard to find custom Cobb dyno tuners there?

Glad you like the PW products, we’ve had them on a couple of our cars, great quality. Since this video our car has been pro tuned as you would call it. On a different dyno it makes 210hp stock and 280 tuned on around 16psi boost. Comparing dyno numbers is kind of pointless especially across the globe. After coming from an STi driveline yes we have no interest in pushing ours much further it’s just a daily driver at present. We may change the front J pipe but that’s it, these cars sound horrid with an exhaust so we will keep the factory cat-back system. The biggest let down on these cars are the brakes which we are hoping to address as well. Good luck with yours.

@@fullboost I’m running 20psi and 30% ethanol so I’m not surprised the power is higher. I was just commenting on the OTS tunes that you used. They’re pretty much universally frowned upon over here in the US so it was interesting to see you using them without any apprehension. Not saying you did anything wrong. The VB has caught on here in the US big time. Subaru has sold over 40k of them here since 2022 and we have a pretty big enthusiast community going for them. I’m pushing my car right up to the limit of the transmission, but we have many owners running 330-360whp for over 50k miles without any mechanical issues. They’re turning out to be a welcome change compared to the FA20 and EJ25 cars that sometimes blew up while bone stock. I guess Subaru got tired of footing the bill for so many engine replacements. Check out the A’PEXi exhaust for the VB. It’s a single exit with a resonator on the mid-pipe. I have it on my car and it sounds fantastic. It’s not “loud and bad” like all the other dual muffler/no muffler options.

The mods are around 4K. The exhaust is std. The car has since has some more fine tuning since this video.

what dyno was this? mine baselined at around 250 whp stock so i’m just confused how you’re only getting 275 with the mods you have, im somewhere around 320 with just the burger motor sports intake

Are you from Australia? I've never seen one baseline at 250 most do about 215 here. We ran ours up the same day we did those mods and it made 218hp.

@@fullboost No, im from the states and we had my VB on a dynojet, i read somewhere that the dynos from the land down under are a lot more conservative with their readings, but i guess this was my first time actually witnessing it. you can find videos online of the VBs in america getting around 250 wheel on the dynojet

@@fullboost not sure honestly, you subaru guys are not the only ones that got betrayed by COBB, but i know they had blocked alot of mods. For us GTR guys we were using either ecutek but they are slowly following the same route as COBB (at least they gave a year in advance notice)... So as of now our only choice i know of is motec which is costly.

intake is probably the most restrictive on this engine. Crazy gains off just an intake and tune on these cars.
