Wonderful. Great technique. Thanks for sharing. Was Saint Martha's head done reverse method with a cement substrate before it was moved into position?

So beautiful ♥️ I feel that people need to learn to draw (the curves of shapes, inside the shapes too…) in terms to arrange the stones masterfully. Without this they cannot create, only copy. Same for painting, first need to know how to draw these curves and also sense the dark-light gradations correctly.

How does he get the drawing on to the substrate?

Where do you purchase your smalti? Do they sell small pizzas for small projects? Could I accomplish the same effect with pre-cut squares and rectangle tesserae? Thank you, so much for this demonstration-it is very inspiring. You do very beautiful work.

So is the sketch drawn straight on to the fibreglasssed cement substrate?

All my life I wanted to create these mosaics, my mother told me to find an apprenticeship in Milan but I never made it. Maybe its not too late to learn... 🥲

Do you grout your works? Or do you just use thinset to lay the Tesserae?
@alissagaon67803 жыл бұрын
Yes I was wondering this as well. Do you grout your pieces or does your cementitious adhesive act as a binding/grout?
@serendipity12733 жыл бұрын
@@alissagaon6780 I’d think it does. But people go the extra mile for rain and snow to fall and not be able to chip the tesserae out of the fitting it’s sitting in so grout fills those crevices the longevity of it gets different types of traction
