I like using "clicky" lids where I just hold two lids in my hands and "click" them with my thumbs. It produces a slightly different sound on the press and the release, but the really interesting thing is how directional the sound is. So, I get lots of different expression and sound by pointing them at different angles. It depends on the acoustics of the room surroundings ... it's SO directional. So aiming up or down where it can reverberate between floor and ceiling is extremely different than point in a random direction where the sound just thuds.

My work mostly deals with making instruments w/ and for kids so yours and Hopkins creations really appeal to me. They show kids that you can make high levels of music with objects you wouldn’t initially see as “musical”.
