Nice job Vic, that colour is bloody nice and a piece your daughter will cherish for many years to come. Your craftsmanship is second to none. Beats talking about tools and jigs and putting your skills to the test aye. Very enjoyable.

Nicely done! I always find it funny when people dump on 2x4's. They are perfectly fine in things like this!

@@DownUnderWoodWorks That's true, a lot of the time they aren't. I guess grain of salt, if they are in good condition, they are perfectly fine, haha.

You're so meticulous and precise Vic, love to watch you work. Came up a treat. Now, I've been delaying a paint gun purchase for a while for smaller/furniture projects, looks like bunnies sells a 690 kit with two guns, thoughts? Finally, yes to icecream thanks, we don't get a truck coming past anymore out my way so you'll have to bring it down with you sorry 😉

Thanks Mario. I think the meticulous nature of my work stems from the fact that I'm never in a rush, always happy to just plod along enjoying maximum time in the workshop (and also that im a perfectionist, can be good, can be bad). Yeah, that ice cream truck comes past my place every Sunday.

Lovely classic dresser, in a classic color for a girl's room! The gold on the drawer pulls adds a princess touch. Beautiful work. Using melamine for the drawers makes them easy to clean, very practical. Your dresser will become a family heirloom.

Hey hey, the ol'K4 still getting a run :D One part is definitely better, YT has been tending towards longer vids lately and this makes a much better story as one. Beautiful work from average wood mate, shame the Chopper has been relegated back into the workshop 😅😅

The K4 is perfect for the amount of pocket holes I use so thanks again for that James. It has been a nice change lately seeing a lot more long form videos in my feed and from my the channels I follow. I knew this build was going to be a long one on video but I'm glad I kept it as one. The increase in longer videos and the fact that second or third videos in a series never do as well as the first gave me the confidence to keep it as one long video.

Nice tip about the blade height on Melamine Vic, I didn't know that
@DownUnderWoodWorks
@DownUnderWoodWorks Жыл бұрын
Yes mate, it gives a better finish but a lot of us have had it drummed into our heads to always keep the blade as low as possible and that's correct but there's always exceptions to every rule. Be safe though.

@@DownUnderWoodWorks Yeah, that is precisely my problem, jack of all trades, master of none and I love it all. A great piece Victor. I'm sure she will love it. I want to know which Bunnings you went to, to find straight 2 X 4's, and with a low moisture content 😉🤪. I don't think I have come across an Ozzie creator that does not use the sauce bottles for glue. I'm a cheep scape. I cruse the streets looking for old verge collection furniture, which I then break down and re purpose. And as to the drum sander, Why didn't you ask me earlier, I could also have told you from experience ( and cost) not to do it .
@DownUnderWoodWorks
@DownUnderWoodWorks Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I was just as surprised as you when I saw the quality of the 2x4s at my local Bunnings. they must have changed suppliers. I've been using the sauce bottle since before I started KZbin. Nothing wrong with kerbside timber mate, i do it too. Good for the environment. Sometimes the best lessons are learnt the hard way.

That blue structural timber is treated pine right? I am wondering is, like mine, your local Bunnings has stopped stocking untreated structural pine?
@DownUnderWoodWorks
@DownUnderWoodWorks Жыл бұрын
I don’t think it is but I’ll check now that you mention it. The reason why I don’t think it is, is because they sell treated pine 2x4s that are labelled as that and are in a different section.
@vtbn53
@vtbn53 Жыл бұрын
@@DownUnderWoodWorks I just looked it up and it is H2 treated pine, it took over the section that used have untreated structural pine, I would be very interested if Your Bunnings have done away with untreated structural pine and even nonstructural pine (they do sell some of that really crappy 70x35 non structural pine). It's a really weird thing that I would love to get to the bottom of.
