Nicely done, my only question is on the placement of the solar panel. Not sure if it wouldn’t be nicer for balance if it was above the digits.
@DownUnderWoodWorks
@DownUnderWoodWorks 5 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Yes, above the numbers would be better but the only reason its at the bottom is that the sign is up high under an eave and if it was at the top it would have always been in shade.

I just bought this exact miter gauge, except w/o the fence and it's a different brand. Here in the U.S. it goes by Wen, not banggood. But it's literally the exact same product. I also experienced the issue that the t-track disc came out of the slot. I'll see if I can fix that, but I'm doubtful. The gauge also scratches up my table saw base quite a lot, even though the gauge has a thick plastic spacer underneath. I'll try to come up w/ a solution for that.

@manueltran1964

Beautiful piece of work but I think I see two potential issues with its strength over the long run. I think it would have benefited with the addition of splines in the miter. I can imagine that, over time, when people but their feet up, kids sitting on it, getting bumped, etc that the miter glue joints will come apart. It is a kind of end grain glue joint after all. And second, because there's no cross support between the two legs -- the sheer force of use and abuse over the years would make the legs come loose and maybe split the wood at the bolt locations Maybe instead of just two bolts per leg, it would have been better to use 4 for each to provide a little extra sheer force resistance. Look great though.
@DownUnderWoodWorks
@DownUnderWoodWorks 27 күн бұрын
Not sure if you watched the whole video but the mitres were splined and I think you’re over exaggerating the ‘use and abuse’ the table might get. You would have to hit the mitres with a big hammer to even loosen them a little. That also goes for the legs, the two bolts are all that’s needed and four would have been overkill for that size leg. Thanks for watching and commenting though 👍🏼
@manueltran1964
@manueltran1964 26 күн бұрын
@@DownUnderWoodWorks Sorry I should have more clear. The table top is beautiful and Im actually planning on doing the same thing for my upcoming build. I was speaking of adding splines for the mitered box used for the legs. Cheers.

I'm just a newbie woodworker, and I'm curious if wood movement on the inside of the frame can bust the miters or split the wood on the outside of the frame. Or does sealing the wood prevent that?
@DownUnderWoodWorks
@DownUnderWoodWorks 22 күн бұрын
There would be minimal or no wood movement in the size of the pieces used to make a frame. However, I now make my floating frames with an MDF backer board. It’s much simpler that way.
