I watched your video on restoring an old jointer - v good! In this clip I was disappointed to see a new jointer in place but thoroughly enjoyed your take on using firewood. Thanks buddy, I'll keep on watching as it seems our woodworking paths have taken a very similar line to each other. Keep up the inspiration! Cheers! RM

Hey mate, it’s called progress or evolution. Like many others I started out with cheaper basic tools and only over time did I upgrade. Glad you’re liking my videos and thanks for the support.

I have to smile Victor. I have a wood burning stove to heat our house ( and my shed). I cut a tree every year or so to 'Feed' them. BUT I cannot pick up a piece of firewood and think... What's it look like inside? Many a piece gets diverted to make wooden bowls. and the odd box. my favourite is when it becomes spalted. The boxes are absolutely beautiful, and I too now use more hard wax and bees wax to finish my projects. I'm sure the recipients will be delighted with them.

Nice work mate, I see your machine collection growing nicely :) ... have to say though, those bandsaw cuts at the beginning were well dodgy. Oh, and how do you like the Bosch Sander? :)
@DownUnderWoodWorks Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Ben. Yes, got a few new tools lately but it been slowly but surely. Good lesson for newbies, you don’t need everything when you start. The old bandsaw was a real workhorse once I worked out how to work it to its best ability. The Bosch orbital sander is great, feels good to use and solid. It has an alloy metal body, real solid unit and smooth too. I think it’s more a finish sander though because it has variable speed which is great but at top speed it’s still much slower than my corded ones

How long did you have to let the wood dry before you worked it?

I didn't, i knew these logs had been sitting around unused for years
