Friday Night Funkin'. It's a good game. I tried it on stream a little while back on hard mode and I absolutely loved it. Playing along to the hype music (seriously, it's all amazing) while chat cheered me on was a great experience. While playing, chat was making requests and jokes about me creating a song with the protagonist's voice. I was feeling inspired and wanted to do that anyway, so here I am doing the thing. As I am the thing do-er. I only had a night or so to make this, so I'd love to come back and try something with a bit more time. Really add all the bells and whistles! I always knew I'd be a musician if I hadn't been an artist. That scares me now because I kinda wanna dip my toes into music but I'm dead serious scared and clueless where to start. This seams so different than just having to draw something on a blank piece of paper- There are thousands of tutorials on art, but music? This video was a little inspiring so I can't help but ask. Where do I start?

If you don't already know a bit of music theory try recreating songs, figuring out how the parts relate to each other and use that knowledge to synthesize your own music. Like a plant taking in sunlight and nutrients to synthesize sugar and for it to grow into a bigger plant. Your skills are like plants, you've already grown and nurtured you visual art now you will plant a new seed to grow another pretty plant. As with plants, you have to take care of them all if you want them to remain and grow, not letting them wilt.

For composing, if you learn some basic theory (note names, triads, keys) then you really just have to hop into it - you'll get better with time. It's made significantly easier if you learn an instrument first just so you can get a solid grasp of the fundamentals, but it's not necessary. I use flat for composing (it's a fully online compositional tool) but I'm pretty sure musescore is intuitive as well; however I have never used it.

recreating/remixing songs, listening to what other people make (and more preferably seeing how they make it, i like levi niha's videos because they're like that), and applying criticism to your work will all definitely help with getting better at music, gl! :)

I also just got into making music. Honestly, music is like talking. Basically if you are working, lets say you are doing like construction. When you work you naturally will feel what is happening. So you can sing to it. Be like "Working on construction and making money" then you basically translate that to the instrument. Like you use the notes that have the pitch that you had when you were singing whatever you were feeling. And that is like a large part of music making. Look up "Using Speech for Melody Inspiration" that guy explains it pretty well. Once you figure out melodies, chords and everything else will just come naturally you'll see. Chords are like what give Art color. Like think of notes as colors and a chord is a bunch of colors combined. Lets say you combine 3 primary colors you get a secondary color that type of thing. You should actually look up the musical color theory wheel. I also draw so thinking music in terms of Art is pretty helpful. Thi j of chords as the setting of the song. And the melody is like the character you draw in the scene

Tbh if i told my young self where to start. I would just say play and make things that you like. Music is more like a language. If you Ingest (like listening ) lots of music you would eventually understand and start noticing what style, notes, progression, rhythm etc. is playing. You can learn theory through your journey of creating music. Playing an instrument would be beneficial but its not a priority i think. as for technical side Shady is using Cubase as his Audio Software. But i would recommend Reaper as it is "free" because the trial can run forever without any limitations. And get some VST for virtual instruments and stuff. Btw there are thousands of music tutorials wdym lol

Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game will have full modding support.
