I remember when Guitar Hero was popular there was a fanmade game for PC called Frets on Fire and you would use the F1-F5 keys as the colored buttins and the space bar for strumming the guitar

In my eyes, anyone can make a guitar hero games by just playing the notes, but what got me mostly was (of course the good music) the stages, the crowd, the animations, story... That's what made guitar Hero 3 and 6 the best ones

is nobody going to talk about the production quality on this, good lord that's amazing

"No one's gonna make [a better take on Clone Hero] unless they come out of nowhere..." YARG exists and a lot of 5-fret rhythm game fans seem to prefer how it feels. There's also WTDE, a mod of the PC version of World Tour that has Clone Hero chart compatibility.

Before those or even Clone Hero there was “GHPCED” which was a 2D guitar hero clone, but was by far the best feeling GH game available for PC at the time (compared to Frets on Fire or Phase Shift). It even beat the PC port of Guitar Hero 3 in terms of robust feeling… think I’ve still got a copy somewhere.

two things i noticed, im pretty sure every background video clip is either guitar hero 3 or rockband footage of Through The Fire and Flames, and also you didn't consider open notes lol

6:14 this is actually very true!! some devs couldn't bother coding their own rhythm game editor so it's better to just use other rhythm game editor and read their format. Examples being Everhood using clone hero format(even the game uses 5 lanes) and Unbeatable using Osu! format(This one is versatile, but takes a bit of time converting to JSON)

Really cool video I think I'll try to make something like this! I didn't understand the tick section tho, the docs show the formulas but it's not clear to me how to use them yet

Osu!Lazer does that. You can mod your own gamemode and play all osu maps on that custom mode

how does syncing the notes to the button presses and from spawn work, is there a set position the notes must spawn first?
@thedevatlas6 ай бұрын
There isn't a set position, the way I do it is spawn the note x seconds before you need to play that note, then as long as it takes that same amount of time to reach the strum area it is lined up. So for example mine should be about 1 second, so the notes spawn 1 second ahead of the music and take 1 second to move
