So I'm over here watching like this is pretty cool right. Then I think back to uh 15 years or so ago and why I have an old bottle of gum Arabic in with my old pearl ex and perfect pearls micas.. it was a coloring technique for cardmaking and scrabooking when stamping back then. Something I'd completely forgotten about. Very cool! Very vibrant on black and white!

It's funny, you mentioned the gum arabic at some point for some reason (in another comment, maybe?) and I was going to ask you if you made your own paints, then -- of course -- forgot 🙄🤦‍♀️ But, yeah, go for it! The Pearl ex powders should work great 🤩

@@LuxindasOtherObsessions the floetrol works great , only good if kept in a closed jar , will not reconstitute with water but makes great paint ! but when I mixed glycerin and mica together it didn’t dry on the paper or on the pallet overnight I think that’s why some use the gum Arabic and rubbing alcohol when making their watercolors

Thank you! That’s a great question, but I’m not entirely sure since I didn’t do any further research beyond this point. My guess is that there are other liquids you can use, so you may have to check out some more KZbin videos by people who are more familiar with the technique than I am and can recommend substitutes.

Thank you!! You absolutely can, although I have read that in some cases, paints made starting with gum arabic powder sometimes get moldy, whereas using the liquid gum arabic doesn't produce mold problems. But I haven't tested that, so I don't know if it would really be a problem or not.

Not all mica is mined by children or from India. Plus, the ingredients for synthetic mica still have to be mined. The best bet is to buy quality materials from reputable companies instead of trying to avoid an ingredient all together.
