Hiya, thanks so much for watching and letting me know your thoughts:) I'm quite new to the idea of a capsule wardrobe and have found it really makes my life so much easier and calmer too! But I do think you have to find a way that works best for you. Trial and error I think is the best way to approach it and then you find the best wardrobe for your personal style. Have a great week lovely and thanks again x

Well, I love seeing a capsule wardrobe that has such variety, color and personality! So many fashionistas have the same white, grey, black, with possibly blush or taupe. *yawn* It’s refreshing to see your lovely and fun yet practical spring/summer clothing! Being in a spring/summer state, my big change is to add a light sweater to a patterned dress (winter) and to change from fancy sandals to flip flops (Summer)! I envy your 4 season country. I miss wearing trousers, sweaters and jackets, but with so many 100 degree days it’s just out of the question. So coming from Colorado to Florida all my favorite fall/winter clothes are in permanent storage until we move again. Take care Jess, and keep these wonderful videos coming. Hugs from KS in FLA.😎

Oh my gosh I would so love so many 100 degree days! And deciding between flip flops or sandals every day! I really need to move somewhere hot when this is all over:)) So pleased you liked my capsule wardrobe, it felt so good to get it done and be more organised. I do love a pretty dress in summer and when I find them in beautiful colours I just can't resist. I would like to add a bright yellow one if you ever see a good one on your travels:) Yellow or white dresses in Summer are just perfect for me. Big socially distanced hugs lovely, and thank you again for all your support x

Hello Jess! I turned into a capsule wardrobe way of life about two years ago! I have never looked back! It’s fantastic, especially when you have limited colour palette and you know your style, suddenly everything makes sense. Another great video!
@FashionStyleEdit4 жыл бұрын
I so agree lovely:) Doesn't it make getting dressed soooo much easier every morning! I wish I'd done it years ago too. Out of interest, do you find yourself buying better now as a result? ie where the gaps are rather than just 'shiny things' shopping I used to do!! x
@Yoasiapp4 жыл бұрын
Fashion + Style Edit Absolutely! For the first time ever I feel like I’m in control of shopping. It’s very easy to see the gaps (to start with I had lots!). I usually buy couple of pieces each season to add to the collection. I know exactly what to shop for. I’m turning 40 next week. I came from the background of little money, no source to great clothing, very little knowledge of fashion. In my thirties I found myself, who I am, and which way to go! Mainly due to the beauty of the internet and the research available. Jess I was missing the basics. I had lots of clothes which would not go together. Now I only wear denim, white, grey, black and khaki. I limit my pattern to stripes and polka dots. My style is quite classical, but it’s more reserved than yours (not fan of too much bohemian, flowers ect). I tend to buy more expensive items for the quality, I read labels to check the fabrics, staying away from too much polyester and acrylic. Also I studied my figure which is more like reverse triangle, I have a very broad shoulders which I usually soften by floaty tops. It’s exciting to find true yourself in that sense and how you find similarities with people but still have that little something to different you from others. Fashion will never make you happy. It comes from within, but the same as make up, can empower you and make you more confident. It’s a way of expressing yourself, passing the message of who you are. It’s an identity. Xxx

@@Yoasiapp What a beautiful message Joanna, I found your story (or at least part of it) inspiring to read:) And huge congratulations for your birthday next week!! There's so many brilliant tips you've included in there that I know other subscribers will find helpful to read so thank you so much for that. We were the same growing up, money was always tight and the majority of my clothes were hand me downs from my Sister or cousins! So when I started earning my own money it was the most exciting and liberating feeling to start treating myself to clothes. Fashion I'd spent hours gazing at in magazines but could never afford! And it made me have a real appreciation for everything I bought which I think has stayed with me. It sounds like you know exactly what your personal style is and have the confidence to trust your own instinct which is absolutely what it's all about. That's true style for me. Knowing exactly who you are and how you want to look. Like you say fashion won't change the world but it can change how you feel and that for me is priceless. Big hugs Joanna, loved hearing a little about you x

Fashion + Style Edit Thank you for your lovely comments. I find your chanel as well as this community very supportive, as much as inspiring. In this mad times is lovely to have a sense of connection and unity. It’s a nice community of women united together in passion to look their best. I love it is not about a competition, but is more in the sense of a sharing the experience from which we can learn and grow to be a better version of ourselves. We wish each other well I am sure your personality encourages it all. All the best for the future l!

@@Yoasiapp Absolutely agree:) For whatever reason this channel has turned into one lovely group of supportive women and I genuinely love chatting with you all. Everyone chips in, I love hearing everyone's stories and where they get inspiration from. Even when they don't like something I don't take it as a criticism it's just a valued opinion. It's not just me chatting about fashion, it's as it should be, a conversation about fashion between us all and that's what I love so much. I think teenage years women can be awful to each other but then one day women just realise the importance of sticking together. That feeling of women supporting other women in whatever small or large way can be hugely powerful. Wishing you an amazing birthday Joanna and thank you so much for your hugely inspiring comments:) x

Velvet & Toads, Jess's Mexican hoodie reminds me of the Indonesian fishermen tops many of the Aussie surfers wore as an outer layer, from the 1980s onwards. The cotton was usually a little heavy & lumpy, woven in horizontal, multicolour abstract lines. These garments did noone any favours in the flattering department ! but served to define your Tribe 🏄. Enjoyed hearing your SoCal memories - I imagine the Aussies followed your sartorial lead 😎.

Yes, I‘m in Switzerland - our lockdown is finishing tomorrow and non-food shops and restaurants are re-opening (with additional hygiene and distancing requirements). Let‘s hope it all goes well. As destructive as this has been for the economy, we as a family have kind of enjoyed this slower pace of life and new way of working from home. The lock-down has fundamentally changed so many things - moving away from the typical 9 to 5 desk jobs, and social rules we used to live by, or enjoying holidays in your own backyard instead of flying to faraway places - I personally feel that some things have changed for the better. 😘

Lovely. I know they say wrap dresses are flattering o everyone but I can't seem to find one that make me feel beautiful. What is the DVF dress that you love? And how would you style it down and up as a statement?
@FashionStyleEdit4 жыл бұрын
Hi Myra, thanks so much for getting in touch:) My DVF wrap dress sits just below the knee which i like, not too short but not too long either so I can make it work for different events. The joy of it for me is being able to cinch it in the waist if I'm having a 'thin' day and loosen it off and hide a multitude of sins if i'm having a 'fat' day! The shape then skims over my hips rather than clinging to any lumps. I just find it a really flattering shape. Mine is made from Silk which obviously makes it a little more expensive but I really think the drape is important when it comes to wrap dresses. In jersey I'd feel more conscious of the shape clinging? I hope that all makes sense. Essentially it's worth shopping around and finding the perfect one for your shape that makes you feel good x

Hi Jacqueline, thanks so much lovely:) I line boxes with acid free tissue paper and then fold all my clothes inside taping them down to go in the attic. I've done it like this for a few years and it seems to keep everything in nice condition. Hope you're having a great week so far lovely x

Hi, I'm wondering what part of the UK you live in? I moved from the Gold Coast, Australia to Hertford 7 months ago and started a capsule wardrobe once I moved. My style is very bohemian and bright so I love all of the colour and pattern in your wardrobe! I am finding my style sticks out a lot in Hertford though which is good for individuality but I feel a little out of place at times.

Hi Kelin, welcome to England😊 What we lack in sunshine we hopefully make up for with beautiful country pubs! We’re based in Nottinghamshire now so it’s pretty rural, out in the countryside. But I think after years in London in the fashion industry I developed a slightly different style. I probably stick out a bit too, but I really wouldn’t worry:) I personally love to see people dressed a little different, genuinely it makes me smile 😊 And you never know maybe your style might start to brush off on them. The only times I’ve ever looked back on pictures and truly hated what I’m wearing is when I know I was trying to conform to what I ‘should’ look like. It never quite works, there’s nothing as stylish as a woman expressing her own personal style however original that might be x

Fashion + Style Edit It looks lovely long. I keep thinking I’ll grow mine and often have gone to the hairdresser with a pic of a similar style to you with a split fringe and always long. But then it gets to a certain point and just looks too thin and I get it chopped to just above shoulder. Never happy lol! I do love the colour though. What do you ask for?

Great vid Jess. Curious as to the fabrics of your kimonos. Silk is a bit dodgy on the beach, isn't it, with sunscreen and sand. What do you recommend?
@FashionStyleEdit4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, I have a feeling my favourite one is some sort of net with velvet Devore patches on it. My favourite fabric at the moment is definitely tencel. It's really sustainable and when you find a good version it actually feels like silk but really breathable too. I haven't seen any kimono's made from it yet but I'm on the lookout! I'll let you know if I find any. I just found this stunning one too, though it is polyester I love that print:) bit.ly/3d4r2Aa x

I love how many of your pieces have personality, despite being "minimalist." Your handbags especially walk that line so well. And it's refreshing to see someone else admit that they tend to buy the same thing over and over! But I'm confused by this decluttering process - are you actually getting rid of anything, or just putting items in storage? What do you do with the definite "no" pieces?
@FashionStyleEdit4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much lovely:) I never really looked at my own wardrobe like that but now you've said it I guess they are all very 'me' and say a lot about who I am. And if I buy one more camel dress can you please remind me I really don't need it!! Haha, have a good week hun x
