Making Nucs to Sell

Great video buddy, nice looking nucs I'm hoping to be where you are at next year and selling nucs , I'm hoping to sell at least 20 next year but first I need to make sure they make it through the winter and do a better job of treating. Thanks for the video.

Hey Bradley, I wasn't planning on selling any this year, but got to the point where I had no equipment and needed to get rid of some bees so I posted them up and a lot of people showed interest. My plan is to get some nucs made after the flow is over (any day now) and sell those as overwintered nucs next year in early spring. Good luck to you! It sounds like you're on the right track!

Those are some REALLY Nucs your clients are gonna get :) I'm not at a point where I can sell bees yet... Still trying to grow my apiary. BTW did you find a home for the queen you showed at around the 15 minute mark?

Hey Alex! Yes sir. I wasn't planning to sell any this year either. I just got to the point that I had no equipment to put bees in so I was selling nucs to make room. I delivered several and kept the boxes which freed up room for more bees. For the additional queen, I put her in a nuc that I had been having trouble getting to make a queen. So far so good.

Those are nice! Do you get a premium for delivery and install? Two queens can be dicey. Once I had two queens, both large and plump. I moved one and the original colony made a supercedure cell. Tore that down and they made another. About that time I realized the extra queen wasn't laying. That's why they let her hang around. I let them finish the second supercedure.

Hey Phillip, For delivery and install I have a 2 nuc minimum and I keep the box. They also have to be within 30-45 minutes of me. I did deliver one that was a little further and only 1 nuc but they paid an extra $65. For the double queens, I hear ya. I ended up moving one of them into another Nuc and so far still have the other one in a wooden nuc box. I didn't end up sending that one out after all because I wasn't 100% certain how she was doing. I need to check on it and follow up.

What do you charge for delivery and install of a nuc?

I only do delivery if they're within about 30 minutes and if they order more than 2 Nucs. Then it's free but I keep the Nuc boxes. The boxes are about $20 each so I guess you could say I charge a minimum of $40 and it theoretically goes up the more Nucs they purchased.
