Disclaimer: my hatred of geologists is purely theatrical, but if I *did* have to kill one for some reason, it would be very easy. I'd brandish my obsidian knife at them and they'd be compelled to approach. "That's very cool," they'd say, confident in their superior strength and endurance from all the rocks they carry around at all times. They'd shower me with very interesting facts about obsidian and hover just out of range of the cutting edge, waiting for me to exhaust myself. "But as it is volcanic glass, it is very fragile, you see, and isn't well-suited for use as a weap-" and then I'd hit them with the wooden baseball bat in my other hand, which they would not have noticed because geologists can only see rocks and minerals

Knap two notches near where the resin meets bone, then fasten around said notches to the handle of the knife to give it even more durability. As well as making it look more cool (very important).

Historically, it doesn’t count as obsidian unless it made by hand and you forgot the chip small pieces off the blade to make it sharper

I honestly don’t understand how it cannot count as obsidian since the stone is literally obsidian 😂

I tried tobdo this before when i wanted to make a lapidary-style smithed obsidian knife, i tried to get as clean of an edge without using the traditional knapping method. It was working out fine, i just wished that there was a way to get a better V-shape in the blade like a katana would, like a concave lapidary wheel, if it could ever exist. It only got a sharp as cutying herbs and a banana, but that was the most fun project i ever did as a lapidary hobbyist.
