Making of a New Zealand Mullet Net

Just getting into catching my own bait what size mullet would i expect to see with a 2.5" mesh i would imagine the big ones would still get caught easy enough or do they tend to swim along the net untill they find a excape? Cheers

In New Zealand 90mm mesh s the min allowed for grey mullet for herrings 2-1/2" is good
