Oooo, I've been planning an Aziraphale/Crowley cosplay for a while and this gives me several great ideas and a base for their wings! I love watching time lapses. My only question is about the base, I see that it's foam covered in warbla (right?) with velcro (industrial strength I'm thinking) but how did u attach the wings to the cosplay its self? A harness of some kind?
@seme5 жыл бұрын
Glad it helps ❤️ You're right so far, and it's good velcro but not industrial actually. The bigger and heavier the wings, the stronger the attachment needs to be. In this case, they are so lightweight, the attachment plate alone, without an additional harnish or so on can be sewn to the back of the costume without dropping it physically

I’m not sure if I have it in my country, are there any replacements? It’s just a hard thing to keep the wings straight?
@seme3 жыл бұрын
Hey! :) It's a thermoplastic material, it's soft and moldable when heated up and sturdy and hard when it cooled down again. Also it keeps its shape afterwards. The thicker the layers, the more sturdy the result. You can actually replace this with different materials/techniques, it just worked best for me since it comes in very handy. If you search for 'Worbla Finest Art', you should find many shops that ship worldwide who sell it.

@seme4 жыл бұрын
Yes, only velcro. This works only when they are small and lightweight enough though. The base covered in worbla can be built in many different ways. You just need to make sure it's stable enough and the veclro is super fix on it. Even sewing velcro to fabric would work if the farbic wraps around something stiff and stable.

What did you use to add color like in the thumbnail?
@seme8 ай бұрын
That's was spray paint! The absolute best paint for this would be airbrush paints since they're opaque and flexible.
@AmberNBrown-qk8ly8 ай бұрын
@@seme I'll definitely keep that in mind when I make my next set. Just finished a pair for a convention and I used acrylic based spraypaint which is great for going over foam because it's not harsh like oil based, but it's not very flexible. Any movement makes it crack and its kinda flaky.

Circa how much of the foil did you use? I need to make colored wings so I need to know how much felt should I buy
@seme4 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend to make a pattern first, print this out and measure the exact amount with the help of that! :)
@trollcreativestudios10844 жыл бұрын
SEME Cosplay im using your pattern
@seme4 жыл бұрын
@@trollcreativestudios1084 Allright! I'd still recommend to print it out beforehand, due to the layering the needed amount can differ widely! =)

How thick is the foam being used in the wings that serves as the feathers?
@seme3 жыл бұрын
It's around 3-5mm thick!

Do you have a pattern for the wings?
@seme4 жыл бұрын
I usually make them by myself (also as commissions), sadly don't have this one anymore!

Where can I buy the material the wings are made of? Is that the Worbla finest art stuff? What are the dimensions of the roll I need to buy?

What lind of foam is it?
@seme5 жыл бұрын
EVA foam from cosplayshop.be and the white one is foam for packaging stuff for safe delivery

maybe a little white board or cardboard in the center for wing structure from making them look too floppy but over all perfect
@seme4 жыл бұрын
I built them as soft and flexible as possible! :) I also build much more stable and detailed wings, what wasn't requested here (and such wings cost a lot more and are heavier so the attachment is different and more complicated)
@blackmoonmermaid47864 жыл бұрын
@@seme your vary talented. no doubt i was more thinking of when walking how they may bend back in the center to much and the tips as well. more give a small oval in the center on the bottom of the pvc is what i was thinking of. XD was not trying to complain :3

How do you attach them to a costume tho? Can't see the mechanic in the back on my phone that well
@seme4 жыл бұрын
The wings are connected with velcro to a small base. This base can be sewn to a clothingpiece or can be glued on. Since the wigns are super lightweight, they won't pull the clothing down afterwards. =)

Love the video. Love the wings. I was actually looking up different wings for a CARNAVAL Costume. Did u use a PVC Pipe & a heating gun to mold the shape? Never thought about foam, but good deal. (Never really thought about it but can it be painted- I’m sure I could prob ModgePodge 1st then paint) just tossing ideas! Love video
@seme2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a PVC Pipe which was heatshaped. :) And the material is in the describtion, it's meant to wrap things for safe shipping originally. And can be painted! Primer would be too heavy for this build here though.

i'm doing a cosplay with multiple sets of wings, do you think that one larger and two smaller sets would still stay on with velcro? :o
@seme3 ай бұрын
I think you'd need to attach them all separately and with LOT of velcro to use this technique for them. Today I would stick to different techniques though! You could use a simple plug-in system with pipes or something like that e.g.! :)

I am so confused by what foam that is for the wings ):O. When i look up plastic foil its just what we call seran wrap or plastic wrap.

As you press down in the center if your table to bend the tube the realize "that's a great idea" then move it to the floor. Then you use a heat gun directly on your table? Just waiting for it to shatter on front of your face. Also don't mind the exacto knife on the leather sofa. Please have a seat, I insist.
@seme3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I worked with many hardtools on/near this table for more than 10 years and it's nearly untouched and still stable! You can also stay right in the middle of the table without any risks, I guess we just have an extreme high quality glass plate here! :) (Having workshops now though so it's not important anymore, still thank you for worrying!)
