Making of Obi-Wan Kenobi PART06 CREATING SKIN MAPS IN MARI

In this part of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Tutorial Series, I go through my process of creating skin maps in Mari. First, we'll take a look at the Albedo map, then the spec Roughness, then the coat map, and finally the SSS scale map.

Hello Adam for example I want to convert my dress texture to aces aces cg but there is no color option like that in the color checker you shared. Do I need to find new color checker or just use any color similar to my texture ? I hope you see this

Hi Arthur I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you have a srgb texture, you just need to set it to utility-srgb-texture in colorspace and then grade it to get the look you want

@@Adamocg when I look to the color chart you shared which we use in nuke. Options are so limited .options are; earth , skin, black skin etc. What if I want to use different color? As I said I have very bright red color on my dress texture Do I need to use the one most similar to red in checker or just change the color checker?

@@arthurmorgan6867 This chart is the only one I'm aware of. It can be used for getting material color averages like I showed for the skin, but like I also said in the video, its not absolute. I usually use this as a base for some material values like the skin but I always end up brightening and darkening to get it to look correct. If you have a red dress, as long as its set to utility-srgb-texture, you can grade it to whatever color looks correct in your render, usually fabric albedo values dont go any higher than 0.65 in my experience. Hope this helps
