I worked at John crane lips in 2001, as an auf werker, a finisher. I enjoyed working there, it was very interesting worked on propellers weighing 90 tons, down to grinding a blade, weighing just 55 lbs, using profiles, good days.

I've worked for 3 Different Propeller shops. I've repaired and refinished a ton of Lips in the Vigor yard in Portland. I'm currently working for Sound Propeller building stainless wheels mainly for commercial and fishing boats.

actually not true. Stainless steel has much better corrosion resistance than bronze and is much stronger. It's just that these factories don't have the manufacturing capacity.
