I saw the Blues Brothers when I was about 12 years old and it instilled a lifelong love for the blues in me. The movie is like a great record for me, I never get tired of it. Thanks to all the people who worked so hard creating this masterpiece. It will live on long after we have all passed on.

moin moin from Germany. Im an old guy, over 60 and i like movies. Oh yes Blues Brothers! One of the best movies ever made. Today no one could make something like that. Not because of the cost, no not at all. They couldn't make it anymore because the spirit is just not there anymore to dare to do it. Today is made uniform mush. Without charm and without lifeblood. Everything unimaginative and completely without corners and edges. I am glad to experience this film over 400 times in an old cinema in the afternoon performance. I celebrated this film with hundreds of people. Simply gorgeous and one of my favorite memories of my life.

@@arjanvanraaij8440 45 years ago, it was quite rare for movies to be shown in the original. We Germans tend to show everything with a German soundtrack. Nowadays we have the internet and therefore a very easy way to see and hear the original. Personally, I have preferred the English-language version for about 20 years now.

It exposed the blues to a generation that wasn't aware of the great artists. The guard checking him out of prison is Frank Oz. Voice of Muppets characters. Then you have Cab Calloway. Even have Steven Speilberg acting. Guy at tax office at end. What are we doing here says Jake. You promised to visit the Penguin when you got out!! Yeah. So I lied! You can't lie to a nun. No fing way. The movie is written like life. Not Hollywood. The Triple Rock scene was classic. Curtis, I don't want to listen to no jive ass preacher telling me if I'm going to heaven or he'll! Jake you get wise, you get to church. They rented the church for 3 days and Took 8 hours to set up and James Brown had been told about the scene. He had heard to 2 hours or chorus and band playing. He came out. Landis said don't you want to do some warmup. No. That was shot one 1 take. They had done it in day and half and they just stayed at church and had a jam session for last 36 hours.

What a great film. I was in a band in high school in 1983-1985 that was a tribute to the Blues Brothers. We were successful beyond what we ever imagined, and had some absolutely amazing experiences as a result. Not bad for a bunch of kids from a small town in western Indiana. While I like to believe we were decent musicians (and I think we were), the truth is we had a frontman who absolutely embodied John Belushi’s spirit (minus the raging drug habit, God rest his soul), and the music itself was so raucously spirited and uplifting that it was just contagious. Thank you to all who created this over the top masterpiece, which in turn provided myself and my peers with such amazing experiences - I am a FAR richer and happier person for all of it!

@@eriklarson9137 - We weren’t that wildly successful by anyone else’s standards - we were a bunch of high school kids. What we succeeded at was having some amazing life experiences along the way - such as playing in a 20,000 seat area for the FFA convention (and a number of smaller ones), not to mention the numerous shows leading up to that (including a mother/daughter banquet at a small church in a very small town in western Indiana). It was the journey, not so much the destination that made it special. So unless you were in the FFA or 4-H in Indiana between 1983-1985, you’ve most likely never heard of “Blues Mania.” But now you know…

The really cool thing is that the music from some of these old, classic performers exposed their music to different generations. About a year of two after the film came out a friend of mine's father took us to Belmont Park for a day at the horse races. We were like 12-13 yrs old at the time and along comes Cab Callaway down the isle and he goes down and sits about a dozen rows down from us. We were excited and went down and asked him for autographs, which he gracefully signed! we thanked him, said we loved him in The Blues Bros! Before the movie came out we had no clue who he was but after that, we became fans. It's great to see the push these performers got from the film. I'd like to think that Cab enjoyed those kinds of interactions!

Bones Malone (I think) only had 1 line, and it was... awful. "I knew a hooker once named Minnie Mazola." I don't think Tom and Lou were actors, but gawd they're fantastic musicians. Lou could reach right inside my heart with his playing, and Bones taught me that a trombone could have real soul in the right hands. I've borrowed a few licks from his solos a few times as a musician.

@DonHavjuan Matt "Guitar" Murphy is an inductee in the Blues Hall Of Fame. He played Aretha Franklin's husband in the movie and was the guitarist in The Blues Brothers Band. Prior to the movie, he was an acclaimed blues guitarist who was often a sideman with Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. He was associated with other greats like Willie Dixon , Sonny Boy Williamson, Memphis Slim, and the aforementioned Buddy Guy. And, if you don't know Buddy Guy, you don't know guitar, much less Blues music.

Fabulous watching this some forty plus years after seeing it on a pirated VHS round a friend's house. I laughed so much I had tears running down my cheeks and my sides were hurting but towards the end I had a real painful emotional lump in my throat halfway through one of the tracks when I realised that the track was not American but British, written by a 17 year old kid from my city (Birmingham). The band he was in had had a couple of hits and were about to do their first American tour in 1967. The record boss (Chris Blackwell) had asked them to write something quick and 'With an American flavour' and within a week the song had been written and recorded. The track? Gimme Some Lovin' written by Stevie Winwood of the Spencer Davis Group, quickly became a smash hit both sides of the pond. I wonder who decided to put this track in the movie and if, at the time, they knew it was not American in origin, I also wonder what went through Stevie's mind when he first saw the movie.

I got to see them 'live' when they came through Dallas. Turning 62 next month and every time I saw the movie was coming up on whatever random TV channels it was scheduled to begin, or if I happened to run across it already playing while channel surfing, I would probably figure I'd watched the masterpiece somewhere between 200 to 250 times. I actually noticed that the footage wasnt sped up BECAUSE of the people on the street. This is an amazing movie even over 40+ years later. Aretha Franklin is probably my favorite singer and an amazing actress as well!

Just did a term paper on "The Blues Brothers" movie, using "The Story Behind the Making of the Blues Brothers" as my reference, using your video for time stamps! This YT video posting was an great resource for me.

Yeah! He was essential to this movie, and he wasn't even mentioned. I suspect there was some sort of conflict with him or his estate. I've always wanted to try an orange whip.

Love The Blues Brothers and The Blues Brothers 2000. The Blues Brothers had it all, action, and comedy, all in a blues musical.

This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen . I still can't believe the studio executives were worried about this movie . If you don't love this movie , YOU AIN'T AN AMERICAN .

Everything about this movie is fantastic. The locations, The coreography, the settings, the actors, the production scope. the script and of course the music. A movie i have seen too many times to mention. It was made on the last cusp of the 70s and was the swan song of that era.

The movie never gets old! Danny was hilarious! His dance movements crack me up. And his Canadian accent when he says they’re on a mission from Gahd.!😆🤣😎 I wanted to be an extra for Shake Your Tail Feather street dancing.Love Arya!😍Just yesterday I was talking about the chicken wire and their loop of the Rawhide theme. Idk how they got Aretha to do it but was happy they did! R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

So seamlessly did Landis move from action to song that until Landis said, “It’s a musical.”, did I realize that it was. Those were the best of days.

She played a very minor, yet interesting role in this movie. The one thing that was really a shame is that Fisher’s character was never given an actual name in the movie, but then again I guess that’s what made her so mysterious.

@@chuckmanofgod You know the saying: there is no small or minor role in acting. And actually, she had an impact on the main characters, more than for example Lou Marini.
