I'm glad to hear you discuss how Cthulhu can never be painted or sculpted. Every image of him one sees is...just not it, only a symbol for him. Yet Lovecraft was able to use his words to describe him in such a way that it plants a concept in the mind, twhich is grasped, understood, yet never able to be translated into the real world. Agreed, it then just becomes another monster, something Cthuhlu is clearly not.

That started to make me question reality, is our assumption of the entire universe wrong? The question how did the world or universe really came to be? That's a question we will never get answer too because we didn't see what really happened in the past centuries.

Personally when I first saw it I thought the man was mirroring the story of Cthulhu. Cthulhu was a normal “being” per say who just like the man was limited to what it knew, but was then shown something incredible. Cthulhu was then brought back to its world and resented the idea of being stuck within his world. So it brought his friends with him to try and show them what he saw. But clearly they didn’t understand, or want to understand what they were seeing, so the mad Cthulhu murdered his friends and tried to recreate what he saw and attached there limbs and parts to its own body. But unlike the man he didn’t fail. As the saying goes: “there is always a bigger fish” but eventually the fish gets so big that it no longer can be called one, it goes beyond and becomes something greater. That is what Cthulhu accomplished, becoming an Old God through madness and sacrifice. But the man is not Cthulhu, and in killing his friends all he accomplished was grief. He did not grow beyond and he is still a fish never able to swim into the vast ocean without being eaten.

I really want to know how you set up your sketchbooks in your "Making Of" videos. At first I thought they were a mix of paper and drawn art, made around your initial sketches like framework. With "Don't Feed the Freaks" specifically, it almost looked like the entire thing had been drawn in, save for the initial "FREAK" drawing, which clearly looked like post-it notes. But here, with all the close-ups, I'm noticing that it's a lot more like a scrapbook; the frames and notes are written on actual paper, layered on other paper types, and given an outline in ink to make features stand out, or to give it a wrinkled look while keeping it flat. I'm even inclined to believe that most of your sketches were taken from their original sketchbooks, and framed and given text for explanation and flavor in a new one, made specifically to show your process in an appealing way.

Cosmic horror is the best. I've read the Complete Works of H. P. Lovecraft twice now, and it's spectacular. I love the sheer ideas being presented - the idea that the universe cares nothing for something as trivial as mankind, or really for anything at all. We were not born to inherit the universe. It was not made for us. It simply is, and there is no guarantee that our minds - conditioned to our safe white walls - will be able to understand or even handle whatever it is that we might find.

i “get” Kafka. i do not get Lovecraft - he usually bores me to death. but i am intrigued by this animation. Kafka becomes an insect - your character creates a monstrous being which comes from himself. the “white wall” is the everyday humdrum life which, in your dystopia of masking real emotion and creativity is personified. the boy there has his monstrous being, too. if i were to picture what i feel, at this moment, it would be colorful flowers growing in the earth, but constantly seeking water to stay undepressed and and drying out - but they always do manage to recover and still seek life - to grow near a brook with a small waterfall misting the air and the verdure around it. birds are singing. and the flowers dream and reach out towards the mist - constantly reaching out. . . 🌷🎭

I have now gone through most of your channel, and stopped by here to say 'Thank you'. Your designs are wonderful and the sharing of your ways of thinking really resonate, especially because you leave them so open-sided and then explain them in your own way without diminishing anyone else's assumptions. This video above all is possibly going to help me a lot. To elaborate: I'm not 'normal', in terms of being able to function in society. I was expected to be normal for most of my youth. At some point during my teenage years, it was discovered that I was... different. I now knew that things weren't my fault, but I was made to go back to trying to be a functioning person for several years afterward, with no actual success. In the end, I just escaped as much as I could to the idea of the unknown parts of me, just to get away from what the world expected and recharge myself so I wouldn't break apart. It felt weird to me to see 'White Walls' and then have it explained to me so... familliarly. Don't worry though. I've found my place and I'm content with it. And now I have an analogy help me explain things to those around me. (if that's okay with you)
