After a selfless act costs him his life, teen delinquent Yusuke Urameshi is chosen as a Spirit Detective to investigate cases involving rogue yokai.

Despite the number of episodes is limited to only 5 episodes, i think the staffs and the actors has succeeded in portraying the main characters's distinctive traits and personality 1. Yusuke is someone who have a strong sense of justice but somewhere deep inside his heart he actually sick of the evil and weakness of humanity 2. Kuwabara is someone who is a little bit of an idiot but he is earnest and hardworking person, and he actually is the main moral compass of the group 3. Kurama is someone who is beautiful, elegant and seemingly the kindest of the four, but he actually very cold, calculating and ruthless inside and spent most of his human life trying to suppress that ugly side of his 4. Hiei is someone who is a lone wolf and spent most of his life in the dog eat dog situation, but he learn to treasure his friends and has a hidden sweet side for a certain people

I don’t understand the people who bash this live action so much. If live action one piece didn’t come out. They would say it’s yuyu hakusho the best live action. It’s just that it came after and people keep comparing it to op live action because people are dumb. The action is really amazing the amount of effort by the actors is phenomenal. The effects are better than op live action. It’s 5 episodes after all but the 1st episode was well done in my opinion. The rest is rushed but what can you do about 5 episodes. I really liked it. The quality is amazing.

I can see the imperfection of the Netflix series of my beloved Ghost Fighter/ YuYu Hakusho but I am greatly thankful for all the people who contributed to this series. These contributors did not throw away my fanaticism. As for now, my gratefulness is far way heavier than my critique. Knowing for the first time that my beloved Ghost Fighter/ Yuyu Hakusho has a live action/ animation Netflix series reignites my gusto for the original animation and at the same time makes me feel proud that there are so many other people who are hooked on this animation. 😊❤️🌄🌅

I can't believe that the actors did all the scenes like this without any stunt doubles, that looked like so much physical work. In the United States the actors do 1/2 of the work these actors do and get paid 10 times more than these actors probably. They were so good and put so my heart and soul into everything and had so much pride in their work they should be very proud of themselves.

I was thinking exactly the same. I was sure that they used stunts. I've read that Jun(Kurama) was hospitalized for a while because he hurt himself doing a stunt and told the director to recast him in order to not delay the production, but he didn't want to. So much professionalism!

One of the best live adaptation. Yu yu hakusho is one of the anime you should not touch. Its near imposible. Like hunter x hunter, naruto. Good job netflix and everyone who made this posible. Its a dream come true for the younger me. They did this justice and kept it almost same as the anime. Im hoping for season 2. The only bad thing i can say is the few episodes. Thats it. The action scenes are mind blowing. Im at that age i get annoyed and bored of fighting scenes already. This is already in my top 4 along with death note (not the netflix one) prince of tennis and rurouni kenshin.

Netflix, producers, investors... Believe in YuYu Hakusho's potential, this work deserves attention and the audience will prove it. Don't shorten the story too much, increase the episodes, as I'm sure there will be a return. The actors were great and the fights were better than big productions like DC and Marvel, coming from the cinema. And while you're at it, turn Sakura Cardcaptors and Saint Seiya into Live Action (but don't shorten the story, just adapt it)

watched it last night, it was entertaining but im kinda disappointed because they cramped the whole tournament arc into 5 episodes, also the whole genkai training was very short and not fullfiling, and genkais arc was not brought to justice. to be honest i only like the visual effects and the fighting but the story is disapointing

They already merged Toguro and Sensui's story; the yokai insects, the spirit world barrier and opening the hole to the demon world thing was all in Sensui's arc and it was also he who dreamt of going to the demon world, not Toguro. For Toguro, he only wanted to fight someone that will make him exert his 100% power.

I've read some bad things people say towards this adaptation. I bet they don't have any idea how hard it must be to build all these things together. I mean, 5 years in the making! I don't give a sh** whether it wasn't faithful to the manga, they magnificently paid homage to this fantastic piece from the 90s! As someone who grew up in the era watching these sorts of anime, KUDOS NETFLIX FOR A JOB WELL DONE!

YYH probably has the best action scene in all anime/manga live action adaptation. I wish it has more episode to develop other main characters. In the source material, saint beast arc was the first time they start building a friendship. Same thing with how yusuke start to build some relationship with Kuwabara and Genkai in rando arc. In this adaptation everything went way too fast for our main characters to have proper interaction.

This truly had a lot of potential if only the story wasn't rushed. Loved the actors and their acting but the pace of the story did not allow me to warm up to each of the characters. Yusuke lost his light heartedness and Hiei was limited in his ability to convey his antisociality due to the short scenes and writing handed to him. They seemed to focus a lot on the combat scenes rather than the story. However, the fight scenes are actually excellent, so they still somehow accomplished their goal.

Bro is bashing my favorite actor: he’s an amazing actor who usually plays the cool anti hero in live actions. His name is Kanata Hongo, probably the actor with the most impressive resume on his career for his age. So hiei is perfect for him plus he always looks young. He played armin in attack on titan, echizen ryoma in prince of tennis, nishi (villain kinda) in gantz, envy (villain) from full metal alchemist, seikyo (villain but good after) in kingdom, and akagi (cool genius) in akagi. Plus he also got funny roles, my favorite dramas: baseball brainiacs, bad boy and good girl and finally seigi no mikata. If cool character from anime describes someone in real life: he’s HIM!!!!❤❤❤

as a filipino otaku, i rate it 5/10 netflix always change the original plot, story and settings of any anime and also not accurate cosplay like hairstyles and costumes of each characters you need to hire a real anime fan director and producer on any anime that you want to make live action netflix live action always destroy the manga and anime we real otaku and anime fans want to watch live action that is very accurate and similar in the anime/manga because it is very possible that you can make it live action per episode of anime i rather watch the original anime many times than watching trash live action like this same as one piece netflix ruined all the episodes by changing and removing the best part of the story
