I’ve had work done at a dealership Porsche Classic center, can’t say enough about how pleased I was with the quality of work and the way I was treated. As a customer they made me feet like someone who just purchased an expensive 911 GT car. Porsche has given me more reason to be enthusiastic about the brand because of the Classic program, I truly hope they build on it.

This video does raise the question of whether a person of modest means can successfully restore his older Porsche himself, perhaps with a little (or a lot of) help from friends. I am trying to do so, but so far the restoration is only about half done, so I can't claim to be able to answer the question yet.

Partial engine rebuild. Reseal trans and replace a few internal parts. New P7 classic tires. Dry ice chassis. Paint hood. Little interior trim work A bunch $$$. But the estimate and inspection is free no commitment. Book an appt for eval.

I'd make the argument that Porsche could do more good for the community of classic Porsche owners and for the overall brand by once again producing high quality made in Germany classic Porsche parts. Window switches for 993/964 are now Chinese made junk, door gaskets don't fit and on and on. Ill pay more if I have to for Made In Germany parts if I have to but please help. This is a huge passion for many, but with bad parts, it all crumbles.

Copy that,,,, to the power of 10. .. As the original owner of a 1998 911-C2S Coupe,,, many Tech's working today don't have an "Air-Cooled " clue. .. Ask a 1984 911 G-body owner about their car; their reply will likely be "Chapter N Verse". .. A new Tech? .. Not so much. ..

I know a car hoarder in New England who has two 912s that have been sitting out in the weather for over 20 years. The wheels have sunk into the ground so that the cars are sitting on their pans, a terrible thing to see. I'm trying to get him to sell me a 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV, very little progress so far. That car is straight and complete but very rusty. He has over 100 cars rusting away, mostly BMWs, cars that were pretty nice when parked , now getting worse every year.

start offering real money not dollar store offers
@3ducs2 ай бұрын
@@1955porsche I din't think any amount would've done it. He's a hoarder, lives in a fantasy world. He's never sold a vehicle off his property, it is a black hole, once on it nothing leaves. He says he has an offer of $35,000 as is and that the "buyer" will pay him whatever it takes to restore it. We think that other people will respond to reason, hoarders do not respond to reason, they are not like you and I. I've thrown in the towel, the only way cars will come off that property is after he dies and they all go to the crusher. He has several 914s, two 912s, maybe four 2002tiis, all rotting away and sinking into the ground. Many people have tried to buy his cars, none have succeeded. I could give you his name, you might already know it through your Porsche connections. I Googled him, he shows up on forums dating to the early 2000s, not one person has succeeded in buying a car from him. I invite you to try though. Try Googling Ossipee BMWs, and good luck.

Expediting Classic parts development?! Thats GREAT news!! I'm tired of ill-fitting oil lines (that need to be sent out to be reworked prior to use), G Body Targa seals that don't fit right and relays made in China, etc, etc... all of which carry rhe Porsche price premium. If we're being honest, many Porsche classic parts are no better rhan reproductions these days. Either remove rhe price premium or improve the parts quality. To pay a premium for low quality parts does not build goodwill. Please, PLEASE, fix this. Yours in the bonds (joined PCA when i was eighteen years old).

This is really wonderful, if you can justify six figures for a “as new rehab”…. I would love to, alas, my 1.8 914 would never be able to sustain that cost. Now, if it were a factory 6, possibly.

Had a Toyota engine in my 2005 Lotus Elise track car. It started consuming a lot of oil at 18k miles. Reliable units overall, but not bulletproof. Replaced the motor with a one year newer, 14k mile, used motor for... $1,100. Can't do THAT in a Porsche! 😂 Still tho, love my Porsches and the feels they make me feel, a BIG part of which is the sounds their engines make.
