That does have an egr valve. They’ve had that since the 30s. Def is better than egr.

Another project done. Rock box looks good along with Dad's rock and tool platform. Will you have to remove all that later after planting to make the tractor usable for other chores, or can it remain without problems? Keep the vids coming. I really enjoy watching you and your dad in the shop, and looking forward to seeing the new planter working.

Good question! The rock and tool platform will stay on year round. My dad designed it so that the platform is higher than the bottom of the tractor that way it is never in the way for other chores. Thanks for the support and the great comment!

We thought about it, but it just takes so much work to manufacture stuff like that and have a really nice finish. the fabrication part we could do but we would lose a lot of shed space, but we do not have a paint booth or a large oven for powder coating.

Isn’t it called a dpf filter and not an Egr filter?? Dpf is diesel particulate filter. Egr is exhaust gas recirculation. 30 series - new have Egr valves on them. 2nd gen R got dpf filters and def in 2014 I believe followed after that.

When you had the hook backwards lifting with the hoist ,the end of the hook is not rated for lifting that way if it does not fit use a shackle to be safe , could just be a Canadian thing

Get a 16 point socket that will fit that threading bit and then use a 1/2” impact gun to thread the hole.

My original thought was to do both an American flag and a Wyffels flag, but the flag that Wyffels gave me is so big I would either need a second flag pole or a 10ft pole!

Egr is worse for the engine on those years because they forced more junk back through the engine to pass emissions without adding def. Egr is worse for your engine that scr def, and dpf.

Your probably right on the egr, what I ment was particulate filter. However I disagree with you about def being better. Every vehicle that we have with def has had many issues whereas the 30 series and early r series tractors are bulletproof except for the fan drive

Def is after treatment, it doesn’t harm or affect the engine period; egr puts soot and dirt back through the engine. It’s a fact that def doesn’t hurt the engine where soot build up does. Your vehicles have a def problem which is cheaper than an engine. Also John Deere’s def system is the best on the market and by far superior to vehicles.

Particulate filters just cause your fuel usage to go up slightly more when it’s regenning to clean it out which isn’t much. Only downside to them is when parts go bad and need replaced. Vs rebuilding an engine. Either way I think think they are all great tractors and id be proud to own 1 of every generation. 2nd to none
