Looking good. Some friendly advice - always disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing any electrical work. And get those batteries secured somehow. Govplanet swaps in those batteries that are the wrong size just to get it started and it's super dangerrous when they are sitting loose. Your positive terminal is almost touching the body, all it would take is a little bump for some serious fireworks or worse. 6TL batteries will fill the trays and work with the original hold down bracket (sometimes thrown on the floor or in the bed by the govplanet folks). Other batteries can be used, but it takes some creative fabrication to properly restrain them.

Thank you so much! Good advice!! I definitely will. This was one of my first projects I did when I got the Humvee so I was still trying to figure things out, which sometimes I still am trying to lol but every day is a new learning experience :) I appreciate the advice about the batteries! Will have to find a solution for that. Thank you for following us!

You ain't kidding when working on the positive you gotta be careful not to touch the body with the ratchet. Ask me how I know 😂⚡️

To make a HMMWV lighting compliant (street legal) to DOT/FMVSS requirements (for any vehicle 80 inches or more wide) driven on-road there needs to be Front Identification Lights (3-AMBER) and Rear Identification Lights (3-Red). Look at pics. of any Civilian HUMMER (H1) for reference.

Yes, it might be one of my next installations. But I definitely don't like the look of the 3-lights.. I like the Humvee just the way it is. A military war horse!

@@theinspiredjourney Remember; in combat it can be VERY dangerous ...TO BE SEEN; On the road it can be VERY dangerous ...NOT TO BE SEEN!!! FWIW; those HMMWV Front & Rear Composite Lights do not meet DOT/FMVSS-108 Standards either.

You start the video by saying is the lights are 12v or 24 v, we don't know.

This was a 12V installation. Hope it helps!

I just wondered what state you live in I live in Michigan and they just refuse to legalize the Humvee‘s for road doesn’t matter what you do for them the insurance companies refused to ensure them to
@theinspiredjourney2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I agree! It's not easy to register them. The tag office doesn't really know how to deal with the Humvees. We use Hagerty for insurance and I know State Farm is also able to insure them. Hope it helps, good luck!
@redstingraycorvette2 жыл бұрын
@@theinspiredjourney yeah I know about Hagerty but the problem is even if they give me insurance the states not gonna give me a title for it but thanks for the info I’ve been looking at them for five years now hoping the state will change their mind and they’re just not budging at all

You can request from GovPlanet to get a title for your Humvee and after you get the title it would be easier to transfer to your state if they will allow it! Or just buy one with a title and a tag already on it. Good luck buddy!
