Even though they look cute you should avoid transferring your products into other containers. Many products are specifically engineered to be in their containers to prevent the ingredients breaking down. Transferring them leads to unintended exposure to air, light and bacteria. So leave it when you don’t want your expensive products to mold.
@TC-ku4vv
@TC-ku4vv Жыл бұрын
It depends. Some containers are designed with convenience/marketing in mind over sanitation. If it comes in a clear bottle, it's exposed to sun already. Squeeze bottles and jars get air with each use. Products that are meant to be stored in the wet steamy shower are designed with that in mind. You also have to be very sanitary when transferring them (wear gloves, don't touch the ends of the pump to anything, etc.) It also depends on the active ingredients and how often you use it up. I wouldn't do it with very expensive products, vitamin c, or sunscreen. Hair/body products are more forgiving than facial care products with sophisticated formulations. My main concern is people overbuying products and not using them before they expire. It takes me months to go through one bottle and I see people with 6 different body washes. (Macerly is very minimalist herself). That means more opportunity for contamination and preservative break down. You only have 6 months for so many ingredients.

Not necessarily I don’t know of a single shower product that isn’t safe to transfer into different containers. It’s exposed to water, air and sometimes light on an almost everyday basis. Their fine. Skin products are different but shower products are safe enough.

People say this but have never back it up with empirical evidence. Just repeating what others have said. I have yet to hear actual proof about product degradation or bacterial infections from product transfer.

I don’t think it looks dated at all? Perhaps it’s me. I will never understand the need to want decor to look like everyone else’s. I love the colour of this bathroom, it’s neutral without looking clinical. ‘Dated’ would be a full on plastic fantastic 70’s bathroom with a blue bath & matching blue toilet to boot. I dunno. I like it.

I don't understand why you would think the tiles are dated. They look clean and neutral. The gaskets look very white and freshly new. The sand colour gives a very comforting vibe. It is not because there is no cold colours like black, white and grey that is not modern.

If you come to an old house and want to make sure there is a good smell from the pipes, take a glass with 2 tablespoons of water, a lot of salt, lemon juice, aniseed alcohol, and put it in the sink and in the bathtub, it cleans the pipes and contains 70 percent alcohol in a volume that eliminates bacteria and unpleasant odors, if the house is very old, repeat the action once a week, feel the difference

Very inspiring as usual! Just a question: I personally got basically the same bottles and shelves from Amazon some time ago for aesthetic reasons like you, but I have to say I found the bottles uncomfortable because they would take me some time to take out the amount of product that I need. But most of all, if the product is thick (like conditioner) after some days it won't come out anymore, and you would have to kinda unscrew the cap and whisk the product. Does it happen to you? If yes, what would you suggest to do? I'm sorry cause I do really enjoy the aesthetic of them :/ Love your videos ❤

@@JudyAbbott494 "normal person"?? This is popular with people with ADHD because they get overstimulated by all the colors and labels. Other people don't like seeing brand names all over their homes. Soap is soap. I like the idea of amber pump bottles because they protect the actives. You can buy in bulk and refill. I haven't tried it myself but I see the appeal.

As beautiful as those bottles look, transferring products into different bottles messes with the preservative system. The exception to this would be if the product states that it's okay to transfer to a different container. The potential damage is already done so all you can do now is regularly check and smell the product for any changes that may indicate bacterial growth.

sooo... this might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like you won't keep up with your pretty bottles and you will end up just returning to your previous system. If not, I congratulate you! I could never do that. And I really liked the shower caddy, because it was very practical and matching to the excisting hardware - it gave the corner a bit of hight and you could have "dressed it up" a bit. Like with two pots of plants on them :)
@Regina-lf2bq
@Regina-lf2bq Жыл бұрын
Or you you could have hang it up in the corner. I have a corner shelf I hang up with special comman strips on my tile and now it doesn't sit on the edge of my tub. It looks real pretty too. :)

And maybe you need to lean into the funky tile. It's really not that bad. Try removable tile if it bugs you that much. AAAAAnd you need a cool bath mat. Maybe try buying it a little too big and cutting it into the size and shape you need. I saw someone on yt do it and it looked real good!
