Gotta love how "but acerola" is becoming a universal way to address a question

They should add 'but waffle house' as well. Just to be even more obscure.

Imagine if 3d artists had to animate by moving every single vertice in the model manually and having tons of models for each frame💀, this is basically what regular 2d pixel animation is rn

I honestly hope that the map to UV bit can be fixed, perhaps by an external tool that handles SVG graphics?

If you make the pixel art editor yourself, why don't you side-step the issue of having to manually apply the UV coordinates to your animation? If you color-pick your "skin" texture, you could pick the actual pixel color AND its corresponding UV coordinate at the same time so that when you create your animation, you visibly draw the color but underneath apply the UV coordinate to a separate layer that becomes your uv animation. I think the workflow that aarthificial used was mainly due to the limitation of the software they used to create the pixel art animations. This should be a non-issue with a custom pixel art editor

Perhaps try looking into the direction of 2D character rigs. Where you can attach pixel art lines and shapes to a skeleton. this way you can animate the skeleton and a good amount of the uv work can be automated. You can then go on top of it manually for the final touches. This setup also could be expanded to support normal maps for lighting
@loookasКүн бұрын
It won't work with low res pixel art. 2d charaters rigs are basically 3d meshes. If you animate and deform the meshes you will get mushy pixel art. This method allow you to preserve pixel perfect assests and animation plus allows you a more cartoonish style.
@morgan012 сағат бұрын
@@loookas well if you render it with no antialiasing, and you use nearest texture filtering, it would probably look fine. you could probably apply that to a 3d character, maybe even rendering shading to another channel which shifts all the colors to a darker color in that palette (so the texture is another lookup texture to a palette texture).
@loookas10 сағат бұрын
@morgan0 won't look good on low res pixel art where a single pixel makes the difference. Some parts will blink in and out of existence. For high res pixel art has already been done, famously in dead cells, where the characters are actually 3D and down scaled to look pixel art and you can tell
@litjellyfish10 сағат бұрын
@@loookasit for sure works. There is plenty of different setups. Yes there is some late stage cleanup needed. But pure production efficiency it’s a great part in a pipeline
@loookas9 сағат бұрын
If it needs clean up it can't work run time and negates the pipeline efficiency. Try it yourself, even crudely in blender and Photoshop. Don't bother posting the results

Flabbet, is there any way this editor could be exported out in a form of a plugin and be used inside Photoshop? Like, it would open open a portable window, or maybe, carry the essential tools and components, such as a Node editor, but serve within the PS build? It's just to retain all the muscle memory shortcuts, the workflow and actions I have already wired into myself and use your awesome features as well.
