Wish I could write stuff like this but all I can write is basic generic metalcore style stuff. But idk how to branch out. Would probably help to learn some better chorus for stuff like this. Don’t know music theory I just do it

Dude, learn some theory. At the very least enough for you to be able to name what you're already doing. It's gonna help you see what you know and to pinpoint what you don't
@MindYaBizz_Whiz6 жыл бұрын
Def take lessons from a dude like Olly if you can, but also keep in mind that you don’t have to play gnarly shit to write good music. Generic metalcore can be dope too. Just play. Fuck it
@ModernDayMalice6 жыл бұрын
Baby steps. Write riffs that add one little thing you wouldn’t usually do. After a while your riffs are gonna be huge
@beandon246 жыл бұрын
I think the secret to branching out of "generic metalcore" is in exploring more interesting chord voicings -don't even necessarily need theory, just experiment with adding notes in. For stuff like this, I try to write chord progressions with some sort of tangible simple melody line already embedded in the chords. Then its just a matter of connecting your chords/melody notes in the grooviest way you can.
