John "Bullfrog" Smith was the founding President of God's Squad Christian Motorcycle Club, Melbourne, which has spread from Australia throughout Europe, into New Zealand and also the USA. But that is only a part of his incredible story, full of amazing events.
He wrestled with meaning and purpose in life, a period of secret atheism, and how to truly change the world for good.
John was honest & thought-provoking, having lived through some incredible times and experiences...
John passed in 2019, however, the impact of his life continues to be felt... He is greatly missed.

I am so blown away by John's. Amazing gift in bring a cutting but simple truth to what it means to follow Jesus. I could say more about the time I went a morning breakfast at a pub in the 80's to hear him speak, he was laying on the floor in front of all of us reading the old book. He acted with humility. And spoke like a lion. He truly was a man of God. Thank you so much for bring this to us all.

When I lived in Lexington, KY I met John while he was studying for his doctorate at Asbury University.. We quickly became the best of friends and I was priveleged to have long hours of conversations with him about God, religion, the state of the world.. This man never met a stranger and I would say that if there was ever a person who truly knew Jesus personally, it was John. What a wonderful life he lived, and he and his amazing wife Glenna were absolutely spiritual rocks for many people and it did not matter whether you were homelss or a king, they welcomed your equally. His death was a loss for us all...

What a beautiful tribute to John Smith. Thank you for sharing his life, the way he came to Christ and the way he shared his faith with his wife Glena by his side and all his mates. The story of John swept Melbourne in the 70's onwards. He was known as a radical follower of Jesus who tried to reach those on the fringes of society and the bikies- with true love in His hear for them. Plus to reach the drops outs, the ones whose parents divorced, the ones hooked on drugs or just smoking pot till they found answers to life. I loved the fact that John wanted to cross all formal social barriers and to reach out to people in pubs or in the street or on the road and urge them to read scripture and find out who Jesus really was and to yarn with them...Thanks for the amazing footage. I loved the part where a young man went out to the hills and said to God 'unless you show me you are real I am going to take me life'-...a young man with long hair soon ran up to him saying 'Are you the one Jesus has sent me to look for?'...what an awesome testimony and awesome God! Thank you for sharing John's beautiful and authentic life on 40 stories.

Ah, thank you Gail for your encouraging feedback. We agree, it's an amazing story... edited from 14 hours of usable interview footage I shot years back, so there's lots more to come... but it was great to put this short story out, and honour John and the ways God used him in so many people's lives.
