Also I feel like if you taught a kid about African countries they would say “wHen Am I EVer GoINg to UsE ThIs!?!?!” lol
@hoabinhnguyen883916 күн бұрын
Herein lies the constant issue with the American school system - it depends on which state, district, city, school, or teacher that you were in. Some places teach world geography and have competitions like the Geography Bee where they know specific landmarks of individual areas around the world, some places barely even teach you the fifty states. Hell most Americans don't even know the state capitals of all 50 states. So its a mixed bag 60% of the time you would be right but the other 40% know quite a bit about world geography. Not necessarily to defend this but to explain it, it is largely due to the fact that most Americans will never leave the US. They need to know the two countries that border us, maybe Cuba, and maybe maybe the country that we are at war with/occupying/or covertly supporting in some way.

As an educator for 30 years, I have also taught this information. In fact, I am from Kentucky and have never been to Africa, but I cannot fathom anyone older than 10-12 not knowing that Africa is a continent. Yummy looking dish!!

It's called that because of the type of bread it is. Plus, he's speaking English, where naan doesn't mean bread.
@jacobsmith821114 күн бұрын
This is not a mistake but rather a feature of language called tautology. Yes, naan means bread in farsi but it has a different meaning in English, therefore saying naan bread is a way to specify which type of bread. Another classic example is chai tea. Examples exist in many other languages, and this should not be used to call English speakers uncultured or unintelligent.
