Great 2-part series. Noah is always great help. I remember back in the mid-1990's, I stayed in a hotel near Castaic Lake, Los Angeles. I made a duplicate mold of the old Osprey swimbait. I used plaster of Paris. The mold was heavy as a rock. I made it in an old Tupperware container. I glued down the bait and poured the Plaster of Paris. After it was ready. I coated the mold with Elmer's Concrete Bone. I still have the molds today. Good stuff!

Thanks man! 3rd part coming, that is so cool making things out of plaster of Paris and Elmer's, I'm a child of the 80's so I know what your talking about! Just wish I would have started lure making back then, 😆

The "shore a" is the hardness, the higher the number, the firmer the silicone

Very informative video. The farther you get into bait making. The deeper down the rabbit hole you go. But it is all very interesting to see what all you have to do to be good in bait making. Thanks for taking us along. Be blessed. My friend.

I’ve only ever used Alumilite high strength 3. Now I might have to try some of these. Thanks for sharing

Durometer Shore is the hardness of the silicone. 30 is harder than 20. So, not using the same shore rating will result in differences.
@B8N_Tackle Жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I'm just trying different types, I know the durometers don't match, but tried a few that were recommended by other bait makers.

@@B8N_TackleWell, greatly appreciate the time and expense in trying different silicone because it will save people time and money.

Have you tried using mold release?
@B8N_Tackle Жыл бұрын
I have not, but no issues with making the silicone molds with the resin copies, but it is not needed with soft plastic

@@B8N_TackleThought it might be easier in removal.

I've been watching your videos for a while. Good information you give. Where did you mold frame. I am hard of hearing from roofing.

Thanks for watching bud! I got the mold frame from amazon, search mold housing.

how do u attach the plexiglass to the bottom of the mold frame? how do u attach the master to the plexiglass?
@B8N_Tackle Жыл бұрын
Double sided tape comes with the frame from Amazon for putting in between. Same tape used for master to plexi.

One more question Do you need to have a master like that or can you just use a store-bought swim bait and use that for a master?
@B8N_Tackle Жыл бұрын
I've honestly never tried that. Since it would be soft plastic i would imagine it would be harder to make a mold out of. Typically from what I've seen people tend to mold wood, clay, and hard resin.

You can use a store bought bait and make a mold the same way. I made a mold of some discontinued swimbaits that I like and it works just as good
