I plan on playing on Tormax & I think you'd be surprised to see how many players would 'not' prefer random loot. Though I am very grateful a random loot TLP is being released concurrently - it will satisfy a ton of the forums.

Oh yeah the new loot thing is a GREAT point also. I've played this game since '99 and I saw stuff being auctioned on Mischief that I had somehow never heard of before. Absolutely blew my mind that I was looking up classic items to see what they normally drop from (spoiler, mostly rare drops from kedge lol).

On Mischief I remember a haste belt dropping that I have never heard of or seen before. So I googled it and found out that it was a real item, but there were no mobs in the game who dropped it. The NPC who used to drop it was apparently removed from the game a week or two after Kunark's launch, so I think Mischief may have been the first time a lot of us had ever seen or heard of the item. I can't remember the name of it unfortunately :(

Cool vid and I agree on all points. Definitely gonna play on Teek since I didn’t get to play on mischief. And PLEASE do the video on the best places to get cool loot. I’ve been reading up on a spreadsheet showing the loot tables but I’ve been wanting a EQ content creator to do a video on this if they played on mischief. I know doctor nachoz has a few but I wanna see some of the higher level ones too and some stuff from Kunark since Teek is starting there. Love your channel, hope to see you on Teek! I was hoping they'd add FV's 150% xp bonus. I think that's their 2nd most popular server after Mischief.

They should have made tormax a hardcore server. Slow expac release with perma death for characters. To offset they could boost xp gain, mana/hp regen ect... but you die, then you are dead, roll new toon. 😊 This would not be a great raid server, but there are plenty of those. Instead it would be more of a survivalist server. Where one wrong step ends your journey.

I agree they should make two of the same - then merge then as population allows Start is always locked or queued - forcing some to go to the other server lol

TBC, do you have any suggestions for someone brand new to Everquest coming into the Teek TLP as to what race/class they should choose?

Did they really mention there was increased Rare mobs on Teek (or Mischief for that matter)? I don't remember reading that anywhere. Possible it's true, I just don't recall seeing that. As for Tormax, I think it's just going to be a boxer's playground. IE, people who want to just do everything themselves and not have to contend with a lot of population, and can go to various camps whenever they want and rarely (if ever) find them camped. I agree that Teek is FAR AND AWAY going to be the more popular server, and Tormax is essentially dead in the water. Also, I feel like one element of Aradune's popularity that I rarely see mentioned is because it paid homage to Brad McQuaid, and his death brought huge attention to EQ and made a lot of people feel nostalgic about the game, and wanted to play it again. COVID absolutely was a part of the equation, no doubt about that, but I believe Brad's death played a pretty significant role in it as well. If DPG thinks that Tormax will be popular just because Aradune was... they really are missing the forest for the trees.

Hopefully the loot is truly random and not just a copy/paste from Mischief. Mischief left a lot to be desired because the loot wasn't actually random. I knew exactly what camps to go to get what items I wanted. Which maybe that isn't a big deal to a lot of people, but it's a bit boring after a week or two. Also IDK how legit the rules were. Like I used to kill certain level mobs repeatedly to see if they would ever drop a SSOY or FBSS and realized pretty quickly that most mobs drop relatively the same stuff repeatedly. Like despite spending thousands of hours in Sol B I've never seen the Kobold King drop an FBSS despite being the appropriate level. There were other small problems, like Totemic armor dropping frequently, which isn't a big deal, but the fact that the other classes armors don't drop randomly, and by the time they are added to the game, you can basically get full planar for free. Feel like it would have made the game more fun if they made all of the class armors drop early on. Also IDK if anyone remembers this, but the dark elves in Kith Forest were literally dropping dragon loot, which made things like Cloak of Flames dirt cheap and accessible. Not necessarily a bad thing, but hard to imagine that was working as intended. People were literally just solo camping god loot with this camp.

Darkpaw will never give you an answer as to yes or no, so it makes it tough. generally I think it’s fine but when other programs are altering the client there’s risk of them suspending for it

I won’t be joining this round, but if I was I’d go with Tormax, I really, really don’t like the Mischief ruleset, I understand lots of people do like it but I like going to different and more difficult camps because I’m looking for certain items, it gives me a goal. If I just grind for the sake of the grind it just feels hollow

@@Forevergames-vn6gd what I mean is come pop there’s no more open world stuff which tend to lend to the toxicity. when I’ve done the “big guilds” in the past by then the guilds are smaller, dedicated and more chill .. just in my experience! I’ve done and lead smaller friendly pacific guilds before and it’s always a challenge to keep them going beyond GoD because of a limited playerbase. The big guilds are certainly less friendly when you are more of a cog in a wheel but those guilds are the ones that go the distance. I would always recommend to anyone find the guild that works for you, time wise and play style

They could've taken some steps to make Tormax a more "original" experience by clamping down on the ability to power level. Y'know let Teek go wild with the free loot flowing, and have Tormax the server for people who actually want to play the TLP game properly. How? I dunno. Something experimental.

I wish they would have had at least one classic start server. I wont be playing either because i honestly prefer starting in classic. If tormax had been a 'Aradune' clone that started in classic i would play it. Im sure im not the only one who feels this way.

People are gonna be gettin raid loot and selling raid loot so that’s not good for raiding guilds . People are just gonna be selling there loot for there own benefit not for the guild is what I mean . Thanks for ur videos I enjoy them

Most guilds will have a rule about not selling current expansion raid loot, big point for me is to have pride in your character and better the guild as a whole

Teek -- I don't really like the "any mob in the loot range" loot drop mechanics. I would prefer if it was tied to the actual zone, from a lore perspective. But yeah, I'm sure it's gonna be really popular. Not a fan of the "leveling fast" aspect either. Really now, why are you playing EQ? People trying to turn it into a Looter/Shooter game. No one wants to "waste" time on quests... Again, not a popular opinion...I know. Tormax -- Box friendly, MIGHT make this a viable server. But yeah, this one is going to die a quick death. As always TBC, great content. Even when I disagree with you. :)

I'll be playing on Tormax. I think it's great as it is...maybe I'm the only one. I do think there's some group think going on with people that are ultra invested in TEEK not being able to see the other side of the coin. NOT EVERYONE LIKES WHAT YOU LIKE. The people who are more laid back are much less likely to be arguing in forums over which ruleset is best, and they are also the ones who are going to be populating Tormax. We'll see on launch how many people are on each. I'm also nearly certain TEEK will have more, but I don't know if it will be by as much as people are saying. I'd be happy if it was just laid back players with no GM's personally. I think Random Loot is trash. Allowing boxxers would only ensure more chinese loot farmers taking over zones. I am not interested in expedited unlocks. I also think the encounter locking system is lame. It actually makes the game boring. When you make all of these changes to the original game all you do is take away the things that made it good to begin with.

Yep! Teek "sounds" like itll be 90% of the community, but you're taking that population-pool from the forums (the pool of people unhappy with non-mischief TLPs). There are tons of players like us that are happy with a simple TLP & Tormax welcomes that. I do wish it had a way to prevent PLers as it will most likely deteriorate the new TLP as well, but if theres always a demand, then I guess it is what it is..

I’ll be going tormax. The double random loot and free trade combo kinda ruin the game imo. End up seeing BiS gear for cheap due to oversaturation meanwhile the price of krono inflates like crazy. Good if you like games on easy mode, but If I did I’d have been a WoW player for the last 17 years and not an eq player lol. But hey I could be the minority because you’re right, mischief was a success - can’t deny that.

Honestly, what both of these TLPs NEED is some form of 'incentive' to actually group (pick up groups, guild grps, etc) VS. Powerleveling. I see a lot of people gripe about how Powerlevelers ruin these TLP's, but why try to trim the branch, if the tree is the problem? If there's a demand, there will always be people finding ways to manipulate EXP & sell it. Easy fix that wouldnt require beta testing or trials: Daybreak needs to incentivize grouping up. This game of attrition/Power-leveling is killing these TLP's pretty much immediately after PoP. My thoughts on incentivizing? 1. Exp bonuses for grouping closer to your level (or penalizing harder for edge-case groupmates) 2. Exp Penalties on zones that is very obviously utilized for Power-leveling (The Deep, Plane of innovation, possibly SolA?, Chardok) --> Not as friendly of an option, but it would push people to try zones outside of the monotonous grind (prevent attrition + promote social grouping). 3. Hot Zones for TLPs? --> this would be the simplest way to incentivize someone go level up outside of a power level.
