I have 2.3 VR5 AGZ on my mk2 Jetta and I deleted the power steering pump also but I just dropped the alternator lower on the bracket and made small extensions for the alternator "leg" to get the belt lining clear waterpump wheel. Plus when the alternator is lower it gives you more room for the radiator as the VR are leaning forward quite much. Happy to found this channel and great content. Cheers and keep on building VW's.

You can just use 1105 long belt. No need for that adapter ;)

Because you cant just remove the power steering pump and put a shorter belt. Because the belt will hit the water pump pulley. So this was my solution.

I have been thinking about such a conversion before and often wondered why we don't see more of them? I understand that V6/VR6 are more powerful, but the sound is epic on a VR5. Would definitely look into such a swap one day

Yes indeed, I love the sound of the 5cil engines, also the 12v vr6 engines. The "drumming" sound is what make them so awesome. The 24v vr6 engines are a lot more noisy. In the next video the engine should be alive and making some noises. So stay tuned, and thank you for your comment 🤙

Awesome! Looking at swapping a VR5 in my mk2 and this might just be the inspiration I need! 🤩 is it an 10v or 20v? And what gearbox are you using? Would be awesome if the coming videos went a little deeper into what parts you use! Awesome work, can’t wait for next episode!

Thank you herbert for your positive comment. This is an 10v engine, and using the original 5speed gearbox. Using the epytec engine mounts. I can take your advice on giving some more info about the parts that are needed for the swap. If you look me up at instagram you can ask me all the thinks you want to know. 👍

We don't see many 2.3s here in UK, conversion or stock! Going to be an interesting conversion, I have helped on friends 24v VR swap, he swapped the engine and gave me all the problems!

They always come to us with problems haha. Here there are enough 2.3's around, and are very cheap. But haven't seen to much people that have swapped in t in a mk2, especially not an mk2 with factory bbs kit 😜.

Id love to do a vr5 turbo swap into a mk1 Skoda fabia vrs 🤩 gonna be very hard to find parts for & what to use though 😅 would the vrs 02m trans fit onto the vr5 block or would i have to get a custom adapter plate?

That would be an awesome swap👍. The 4cil platform gearboxes can only be used on 4cilinder engines. The 5 and 6cilinder engines share the same platform gearbox housing.

Hallo Sir. This is Awesome! I have been contemplating this swap as well, will be looking closely . Looks like the 10valve AGZ. I would like to do the 20 valve AQN in my Jetta mk2. Did you specifically choose the 10valve cause it easier?

Hi Jacqeus, Yes indeed, this is the AGZ, the AQN will be similar to swap. The 10v engines are a lot easier to get, and cheaper to buy 😅.

@@VAGbuilders_Tuning Thank you for replying Sir. I'm in South Africa. Took a 20v for a test drive when they came out, I love extra grunt . Better top end , the 10v tends to run out of puff like a 12v VR6 at high rpm. Are you using stock decoded Bosch ECU, or which stand-alone?

Wil dit zelf ook al een hele lange tijd doen. Alleen nog geen chassis naar zin gevonden. Oud type met open dakje. Is de kabelboom veel aanpassen? Supervet kanaal en geniete van de filmpjes 👌👌

Bedankt voor je positieve feedback, kabelboom is prima te doen als je de schema's erbij hebt. Mocht je dit niet zien zitten zou je stefan baggen op facebook kunnen contacteren, die kan de kabelboom plug&play voor je maken.
