I finished the first draft!🥳 Can anyone give me some advice for the next step? 👀 It's 60k YA fantasy.

Just don't distance yourself from your first draft like many websites over internet suggest. I did that and that was a wrong step. What I mean is you have a great flow with you now, in writing and also in your novel just don't stop that. Keep developing it in some way. And congratulations for completing your first draft:-)

Hooray!! Amazing, quite a big achievement that. What I usually do is actually the complete opposite from Sahil XD But each to their own. I might take a day or two and come back to it with a fresh mind, read over it and I usually automatically notice flaws that I didn't see before, and I think of new or better ideas. But that's what I do anyway. Maybe re-reading it immediately and going with the flow works better for some. But what I'd say is, now's not the time to let anyone else critically judge it and give feedback. You have to refine it first and be 100% happy with it before you show anyone else. That way you'll be able to discern from good feedback and feedback that might not be very good. I hope that helps!

@@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller Actually after completing my first draft I left my novel for an entire month so I was talking in that degree. Obviously a break for a day or two or so is fine and should be taken. And yes reading over the novel from beginning to end is very important, twice over is much better. One advice if I may give, keep creating flash notes as you read your novel as for sure as you are going to go over it you will get many great idea but all won't stick to your memory and you don't want anything to miss. Even if you don't include it in your further drafts, that would help your creativity. :-)

hey Joe, can you please upload the mentor video or series. I am in extreme need of it and I know only your video can help me.
@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'd love to upload it right now but it's not quite finished yet. Maybe I can give you some advice here. Are you writing a mentor in your story?
@Sahilsharma-ce4ow3 жыл бұрын
@@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller Even I would like to have that. I don't have any specific mentor in my story but in a scattered way it comes sometime and they are important.

@@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller, I am not sure if 'mentor' is the right word though. Actually, it is an old man(in his 60's or 70's) who help my protagonist to get the answers to some of the main questions in the story of the story and guides the right direction to go in.
