As a gardener, I never thought I'd feel so sympathetic for a squirrel... I'm putting out extra bird seed for them to steal this autumn. Thank you for these videos. They are both educational and entertaining!

I see that the 3-Act structure especially as you explain it is a great cure for writers block at least for me.

Ah great! Pairs nicely with the "Distracted while writing" vid then. 😄

@@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller Yes. With just two of your videos you killed both the problems of confusion and distraction. Vintage warrior, you are 😉

act 2 is hard to pull off sometimes but not always when you enjoy the writing thank you so much 😍

Rewatching and realised you said "Act 2 can be any length". So glad to hear that. I think my Act 3 will be short...Hoping Act two is twice as long as Act 1

Another really helpful video. Thanks Joe!

At this point I watch the series not for the educational content but for that squirrel's story.

I loved this. Beginning Act 2 now, so it was helpful

I don’t know if this is necessarily correct. The protagonist is supposed to gain new knowledge at the midpoint (middle of act 2 or end of Act 2A) and then undergo his darkest moment at the end of act 2 (or end of Act 2B). They only receive that final extra piece of information or realization of what they need to do at the beginning of Act 3 which leads to the climax.

There’s not really a correct way. The 3 act structure is not really associated with the hero’s journey, and so any interpretations of placements of events in this “recipe” are just personal preference.

squirrel was lucky it was a frog and not a toad...--i could imagine a toad chasing the squirrel, "get in my belly!"-- refusing to learn the theme of kindness, then he sees the pile of nuts... goes to grab them and someone eats him lol. XD

So, can you move the steps around? For example, having self-doubt before no progress or after receiving guidance?
@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s just a rough structure for someone who hasn’t got any. Id even change it around if I could do it again
@craig8304 Жыл бұрын
@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller - OK, thanks for the reply. If you could do it again, what order would you have the steps in for Act 2?
@JoeWebb-TheStoryteller Жыл бұрын
@@craig8304 I’d give different understandings for each act so people understand them better. Something I’m making videos on at the moment.

I might find that character x is actually guilty of what he/she is accused of. It's a real challenge when you are a close friend or relative of character x.
