Just want to say dude, it's a CRIME that you don't rake in the views. You are one of the very few who does something he loves and chases the art, rather than the algorithm! It's been amazing to follow your journey and I really hope, that people will wise up and eventually start pouring back in!

@@ZachRamelan you deserve it, and I've been following you for many years and watched you be one of the very few not to give in. Those people that I looked upto while I was starting my journey all those years ago, they became consumed by the highest bidder. You stayed absolutely true to who you are. You experimented and show the art form for what it is - there aren't many people doing that anymore.

the very second you said "ever had a passion project..." I was all ears, and to answer your question, YES. And now I'm totally intrigued to see how you guys put this together. I've been working on my concept which seems to be like years now, but finally I've been pushing through on the writing after building out my world. A little harder than using an existing world, but both are challenging. I'm excited to see this, paused for the cause and now let me watch this and I'll be back with my thoughts on this. I'm going to mess up, but now I feel good about learning from it. That sheer joy in your face and voice, combined with true optimism, really stands out from other filmmakers on KZbin. And your encouragement to do budget stuff and just use what you have has really opened my eyes to the possibilities of filmmaking. So thank you, Zach, for truly inspiring me!

I think so many filmmakers are waiting for permission to make their movie/short film/content. It is so inspiring that you never ask permission, you just do it. The fact that you made this with a 1000 dollars is inspiring and shows your true creative potential. Also, I noticed you shot this on a sony fx3, which speaks to the fact that you don't need an arri, red, or high end cinema camera to achieve a cinematic look. Rather the focus on proper and creative lighting and amazing production design goes much farther than an expensive camera. Well done.

@ZachRamelan11 ай бұрын
The budget outside of gear was $1000. Every other expense was volunteered. You're right; I should share the cost that includes everyone's gear (to be honest i'm not even sure what that is). I don't want overwhelming budgets to discourage young filmmakers because the reality is, if you're a good person with good sets and tell good stories, you can get so much for $0.

Love the passion but I have to get a major pet peeve off my chest. With how cheap cameras are, (you can film a high quality film with an I Phone) with how little light you need nowadays to shoot with said cameras, the quality of video so you don't have to spend on film (and paying for film used to be the main cost for independent film makers of the past) the accessibility of getting your work out there. More tiny film festivals than ever and of course KZbin.is the real game changer. We should be experiencing an independent film making Renaissance unheard of in the history of film but if anything the opposite is true. Studios recycle ideas with the same old boomers that have been in charge for decades. 40, even 50 years. We should be having a French style new wave, a Chech, we should be having a repeat of the late 60s and 70s in America. Unfortunately this generation of young film makers are more interested in directing Batman fan films or at best Christopher Nolan style "cool" but artistically devoid style films. Basically it seems like we have a bunch of well... young dork filmmakers and very few artists. Plenty of wannabe Nolans and Spielberg's and very few Goddard or Von Triers or even Kubrick's. Not that there is anything wrong with Nolan and Spielberg. Nolan is fun as hell and Spielberg's done honest to God great films (Schindler, SPR) just watch Duel to see that Spielberg may have been born with more natural feel for film making than anyone who's ever lived but they are very much studio men. Here's the greatest opportunity in the history of film staring these independent filmmakers square in the face and they choose to make Batman fan films? Because that's what we need right? I mean there are too many original ideas out there right now. We NEED more remakes and reboots right? It just makes me sad. Again we should be in the midst of a Renaissance yet instead we are in the exact opposite place...
